Anybody every try this? Does it work well? I have one already that I use on my machete.

I think for a machete it's fine a machete doesn't need to be all that sharp. But not for a pocket knife unless I was in a pinch
Just my 0.02

The grits on the combo puck are 120/280 grit.

No. They will never touch any of my knife edges.

Add: if you really are in that need of a knife sharpener, use the bottom of a ceramic mug or bowl.

That's a great tip CWL, I'll have to give that a try.

I personally find that the Puck sharpener is best for repair work on tools like axes (before moving to finer stones) or maintaining edges on things like shovels or mattocks. It'll "scrub out" damage and file marks very nicely, though. It's just designed for work on percussive cutting tools more than slicing ones.

First of all, Thanks for the quick replies! In that case, have any recommendations for a good sharpening stone?

Let's get this to the correct forum...off to MT&E.

I like the DMT coarse/fine Diafold. I'll be having some EZE-LAP oval folding stones land today that may become a favorite of mine as well, for getting the interior of curves and the like, but I'll have to see when they actually arrive to see how I like 'em.
