So I did my own blaze orange cobra stitch paracord lanyard for my BK9 and for better or worse it's more or less permanently attached to the handle by being stitched on. Not really a problem except it's started to get really dirty from all the work it's gone on with me for over two weeks now. Since it's stitched on I can't take it off to clean it without completely undoing it and the ends have already been melted into place.

What's the best way to go about cleaning a paracord lanyard without unraveling it?

I'd just wash it with soap and water, or try some detergent. Paracord (sheath) is nylon fabric so treat it like you would clothes.

Give it a while to dry, and make sure you don't leave exposed carbon (or non stain resistant) steel wet.

I've found it difficult (read: impossible) to keep white paracord brilliant white. Once it stains to where I can't take it I use Rit dye to color it dark. It's best to boil your cord before tying your knots/lanyards first anyway, and dying accomplishes that at the same time.

Good luck!

I'd just soak it in some oxyclean followed by a good rinse, maybe take the scales off when you do it.
