Large Micarta - What color are they?

This one has been nagging at me for a while. There are some great great pictures of 91Bravo's new BK9. His micarta looks natural in color. Most others pics I see also look natural.

I have three sets of the large becker micarta, all directly from Ka-Bar. They are all green micarta (underside is smooth and polished green, and when sanded they turn darker green). I have two sets of tweener micarta, and they are also green.

Are there different scales? Were there different batches? Was I just lucky?
They work fine - just been wondering for a while.

I ordered some a couple years ago that were much darker than the ones I order a few weeks ago. The newer batch is much lighter.

I bought some from KW that were greenish micarta and really fibrous. Then I got a couple sets from Tomar's and they were all natural colored with real dense micarta material. I also like the lighter, denser scales as well.

They are actually natural micarta. Once you put a coat of oil, petroleum or sno seal, they darken, which give them the appearance of having a brownish color.

Nice to know there are a few variations. I like the ligher color but denser natural micarta as well. Guess will have to get some more;)
