Hi,
I know that the amendment to the reform bill was signed the beginning of June 2015, which overturned the ban on switchblades. http://www.kniferights.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=312&Itemid=1
However I also know that Las Vegas can still have its own laws regarding carrying etc.
So am I wrong to assume that they are legal to own/possess in las Vegas now, but not to carry at all?
I am not so worried about the carry laws at this point, I am trying to find out what the law is regarding sending a knife to Vegas to someone, who will keep it at home and not carry it.
Legal?
Thanks for any advice.

The state not only removed the ban on mere possession of switchblades, but removed the state-level restrictions on concealed knife carry in general.

The preemption provision of the law did not pass, so yes, Las Vegas retains the right to pass knife laws more restrictive than that of the state. However, Las Vegas as a city has no knife laws on the books, likely having been satisfied with restrictions at the state level up until this point:

Las Vegas may, but not necessarily will, pass laws against switchblades in the future, but as of this writing has not done so.

Clark County, on the other hand, does have a restriction on using or displaying knives on public sidewalks:
It shall be unlawful, except as otherwise expressly allowed by state law or county code, for any person to use or display on any public sidewalk or public pedestrian easement in the restricted area any sword or knife, or bladed edge with a blade longer than three inches, bow and arrows, crossbows, devices emitting flames of three inches or higher, or any toy, imitation, or replica firearm which substantially duplicates and can reasonably be perceived to be an actual operable firearm, as "firearm" is defined in Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 202.

Be advised that casinos and other similar establishments in Las Vegas are private property and as such are permitted to screen visitors for weapons, including the right to refuse entry or expel anyone for possessing a knife by any definition they choose.

Interesting info. Based on advise given for G7, automatic knives were not legal in Las Vegas proper. It appears that this is incorrect. Glistam, Thanks for the clarification.
