Ok I do not understand this really. Here is a copy of the laws for this state:
Nevada - Crimes against public health and safety. 202.350.

1. It is unlawful for a person within this state to:
(a) Manufacture or cause to be manufactured, or import into
the state, or keep, offer or expose for sale, or give,
lend or possess any knife which is made an integral part
of a belt buckle or any instrument or weapon of the kind
commonly known as switchblade knife...
(b)... carry concealed upon his person any...
(2) Dirk, dagger or machete... [A 1995 amendment
substituted "machete" in this subsection for "dangerous
knife."]
(4) Knife which is made an integral part of a belt
buckle...
2. It is unlawful for a person to possess or use a:
(a) Nunchaku or trefoil with the intent to inflict harm
upon the person of another...
5. As used in this section...
(e) "Trefoil" means an instrument consisting of a metal
plate having three or more radiating points with sharp
edges, designed in the shape of a star, cross or other
geometric figure and used as a weapon for throwing.

Ok So I don't know what they call a balisong but is it illegal to have one or carry one in this state. I do not want to harm anyone I was just wondering if I carried my BM 42 and for some reason got stopped by a cop would he take it away or could I get in any kind of trouble for having it?

Thnx

Going by just the Nevada law (wow, that's short compared to the MA version) it doesn't seem balisongs are specifically mentioned as illegal.
The bad news- for every place that doesn't lump balisongs in with switchblades there is another that DOES (lumps them right in), usually due to a legal precedent caused by an ignorant, zealous prosecutor with a personal axe to grind. And you never really know about the place you are in. Nor do most of the police officers. Even in a place where they are legal, losing a balisong to a LEO is always a risk even if you are doing nothing wrong.
More bad news- Las Vegas probably has its own knife laws that are more restrictive than the state in general. Most large cities do in my experience.
If you are travelling, and don't know the style of the city and the attitudes of the law there and the different areas, better to carry a more mundane knife, or one that you don't mind losing/ditching.

So does anyone know about the County or City Laws??? If not Do you know where I can get them? Other then askinga cop or something :thumbdn:  :barf: ME&COP dont mix! :barf:  :thumbdn:

someone asked the LVPD about this recently, they sent him a letter back *specifically* referring to balisongs as 'fighting knives'

So, in other words they're frowned upon.
