One of my favorite blades to make has always been short swords!

Despite the great difficultly inherent in making these, they are still a lot of fun to make.

This is my most recent short sword design (I have yet to come up with a name), and is part of a 3 piece set commissioned by a client.

This particular model was designed to serve as both a tool and a defensive tool if necessary.

The blade is tip heavy, making it a very good chopper while still possessing a lot of piercing ability.

The handle is skeletonized, and the blade is very lively in the hand relative to the size.

Overall, I'm extremely pleased with how this came out.

Now to make more!

Thanks for looking! :D

- Precision Ground A2
- 58 - 59 HRC
- .25" Stock
- Fine Hand Rubbed Satin Finish
- Double Hollow Grind Utilizing a 14" Contact Wheel
- Textured G10 Handles, Secured with Screws and Epoxy
- 23.75" OAL, Cutting Edge of 15.5"

That thing looks hungry for work. And by work, I mean limb-lopping. :)

Great job.

That is NICE! Good design and it looks very well executed. Congratulations on your work. I know it's not easy to make these.

commissioned.. not for sale! want. make? cheers!

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the positive feedback. This was a difficult and time consuming project for sure.

Sloth - I'll be making more of these once I finish a few more sword projects.

I'm curious, did you forge the blade into shape or use stock removal, or both? Looks like a difficult blade shape to do either way.

All of my blades are made via the stock removal method. Forging would have probably been faster, but I'm not setup to forge at the moment.

Love the graceful flow of the lines, Johnathan. Swords are a ridiculous amount of work, and this one looks fantastic.

Thanks guys!

These take a while to make, but I think the end product is worth it.

That is just plain awesome. I love it. If I had the disposable cash to buy one I would be throwing money at you right now in hopes you'd put one higher on the priority list for me. It's the perfect blend of fantasy, history and modern functionality.
