Hey Guys,

Does any one have experience with knives made from Lauri of Finland. I am specifically talking about their carbon blades. Quality and toughness. Likes and dislikes. Appreciate any and all input.

God Bless.

Lauri blades are great. They are sharp and strong 'workin' blades. One of my primary outdoor knives is a knife I made with a Lauri PT. I suggest that you spend the extra few bucks and get the "PT" blades that are differentially heat treated so there is a temper line. IIRC, these have HRC of 62 on the edge. All I really do is strop it to retouch the edge.

BTW, even though it is denied, Lauri PT blades are used for the Kellam Wolverine puukko.

Some people don't like the stick tangs, but this design of knife has survived the harsh outdoors of Scandinavia for over 1000 years.

I haven't tried any yet but have seen only positive reviews and the differential heat-treated blades are on my list to get - I believe they OEM for a number of other makers. Stick tangs are not an issue for knives that aren't used to chop, pry or baton and contribute to lighter weight and overall balance.

I have PT blade as well. Do you know if they are "tough". I am always bit scared about breaking the blade off the tang. Thanks

I like them a lot. Especially progressive tempered blades with 62HRC. I made quite a few knives out of it. And with about $15 a blade it is hard to resist.

This is my favorites:

On edge retention tests it shows very good results. Which is expected from good European carbon steel UHB17Va with 62HRC edge.

Thanks, Vassili.
