Leather pocket sheath/case for a 55?

Today I had a notion to take my Buck 55 out of the drawer, polish and oil it up a bit, and carry her for awhile. As much as I love the knife, I've been hesitant to carry it too much for fear of dinging up the brass. Anyone know of an affordable pocket sheath or slip case it would fit in? With a little protection, I'd have no fear of carrying it in pocket with my coins and keys, etc. Many thanks in advance. And thanks, Buck, for making this great pocketknife.

Oh boy, Wish I could snap my fingers and produce you the perfect case. I would, since you are 'over there' just get one from who you have had the best luck in ordering from. I have several for my three 55's, I have shown and I know you have seen the ones I hang from my belt inside my pocket. I bought slip, cut them to size and put on hanging strap. I would suggest if you order one, order a couple different sizes to find just the right one. I sometimes use a old 505 slip on mine also. You might contact the Buck store and see if they have any pocket slips handy. Sometimes they have a big bowl full on the counter..... 300

The type of sheath that 300Bucks is typing about is sometimes called a Buckaroo Sheath. You can find them on farm and ranch type sites, etc.. Check out this thread.

Just a thought - that little 55 is a really sweet work knife (I have two of them) and believe it or not look pretty good with a ding on them here and there - ads character but I know what you mean and how you feel when it comes to the appearance of your knife. Good luck with finding a sheath.

How do you receive your mail over there? APO or FPO perhaps?

Thanks, 300. But I'm a little confused. Are you saying that Buck has produced a slip case for them?

Thanks for the link and info, Ed. You're probably right about just letting the knife get "baptised" with a little normal pocket wear. But dang, this thing just looks so good gussied up! :)

I just have regular mailing address, plus I have one in Florida, where I'll be visiting family soon (pending a timely heal-up from this #@&$$#%$#&! herniated disc).

I don't think Buck has produced a sheath specifically for the Buck 55 but they have produced sheaths for other knives that fit the Buck 55 nicely. Unfortunately, I can't think of any of them off the top of my head but a trip to Buck's website and then to their sheath section may yield results.

The belt sheath for vintage Bucklite 424s would fit nicely. photo in a few moments

The Buck 424 sheath is fabric. The knife is NIB with sheath and paperwork. A real Gem. If you can find a sheath from a vintage 424 it would be a good fit IMHO.

The black leather sheath is one I have had for years and never used. I am not sure how it came to be in my hands. It closes with Velcro. Ping me a mailing address, if you like, and the leather sheath is yours.

This question seems to get revisited occasionally. The 55 is a tad smaller than the 501. Here is what a 55 looks like in a 501 sheath. You can see the mark in the leather just above the 55 where the 501 comes to. The 55 sits a little lower but not bad. A little tissue in the bottom and it would be good. The 501 knife is displayed alongside. 501 sheaths are available, they are listed on the factory website. HTH /Roger

Mn,

I was just reminded of one of our BuckForum and BCCI leather experts is Rudderjt, I don't think he reads every thread, but bet if you contact him with PM he will have an idea on the perfect sheath for you. 300
