Which one would you guys prefer? Leatherman Charge tti vs Surge. I already own the wave and i love it. Looking for something a little different

If you typically pocket carry a small pistol or revolver than you'll be fine...otherwise...it's kinda heavy.

I have a Ti Charge but rarely carry it. The outside accessible tools and side plates give all sorts of hot spots if you want to use the knife a lot. It's also bulkier than the Wave. If I were to take something bulkier than the Wave, I'd probably just go all out and get the Surge (although in all honesty I carry and use the Juice mostly).

Either will be bulky in the pocket. One benefit of the Surge is the replaceable saw and file, if you use them a lot. A friend of mine is a Technician who gets paid to work on buses, semi trucks, and race cars. He prefers the old version of the Gerber Suspension (not the new one) over the Wave because of the weight. I can't bring myself to carry the Gerber though.

Are there tools that one of those two has that would benefit your use? If not, another suggestion is the Victorinoc Spirit X. It's about the same size as the Wave. The LM variants have easier to deploy knives, though.

I tend to carry what ever I have acquired most recently, along with a fully accessorized Surge that lives in a Skinth holster on my belt. Today it's a Side Clip that I just got back from warranty repair. But, not long ago, I was carrying a recently acquired new version Surge clipped to my left front jeans pocket at the same time I was carrying my Surge/Skinth kit on my right hip. I don't mind the weight at all; if I did, I probably wouldn't also have a Ruger LCP holstered inside my waist band. The heavy load I carry keeps me from having to go to the gymn in the evening! Call me a nerd; I'll be offended if you don't. Occasionally, I substitute a Charge for my Surge kit, like for church or out to dinner (That was BC (before Covid!)), but the Surge with all the accessories makes me feel much better prepared for whatever might come up. Get the Surge IF you are nerdie enough! T-A

I've had the Wave and Charge Tti for over twelve years, both are excellent, there's little difference between the two, though better knife steel on Charge and feels a little lighter in weight. If you want something different, get the Surge, though too large for my preference. Frankly, the Wave will do it all, perhaps another multi tool size and combo will be a 'better' choice. OP... Enjoy whatever you get.
