I did a search and didn't find too many posts about the leatherman Mini Tool. I had the original PST and really liked the size.
Lost it and ended up with a squirt, but sometimes it's too small.
Found out about the Mini Tool yesterday, found one on the net in Black and purchased it. Looks to be the perfect tool....for me.
Need a pliers type of small mini tool to go with my new Midnite Minichamp, so since this is 2 5/8 inch closed, but full size when open, it looks perfect.

Does anyone have one, and I need the width and thickness measurements so that I can make a sheath for it before it arrives in a few days.

Also looks like there is room to add some additional tools in the folding handle parts. Is that true? Are the pins removeable so that I could alter the choice of tools or make my own blades?

Fully open, the dimensions are pretty durn close to a PST. The handles are a bit thicker, is all.

Because the pliers are so much closer to the implements, and since the fold-out extensions take up a fair amount of space, there's barely enough room for the stubby knife blade and combo screwdriver/file. The bottle opener built into one of the extensions works passably well, but the can opener... let's just say it was a nice try.

As for adding tools, you can't. There just isn't room!

Now I get it, the space inside of the handle extensions is for the pliers head when it folds up.
Still, I really happy to find a full size pliers in the mini size.
I don't need all those repeats of my other multi tools I carry, so the pliers is the main thing.
Still need the dimensions.
thanks,

The Leatherman Mini Tool fills a niche that has no competition; a standard size plier tool that folds up into a 2-5/8" package. No other tool can do that. As Gryffin points out though, the trade-off is that you get shortchanged on the blade selection. Only a very stubby knife, and a very stubby file. Sorry, no room for anything else.

Still, if your intention is to carry the Mini Tool with your Minichamp, the two should compliment each other nicely.

Another nice thing about the Mini Tool is that by virtue of its double-folding handles, it does not dig into your palm under pressure like the original Leatherman PST did.

Dimensions:
Folded length.........2-5/8"
Folded width..........1"
Thickness..............9/16"
Opened length........6-1/4"

If you don't want to make your own sheath www.leatherman.com still offers sheaths for the mini tool at $6.........check under the accesories section.
I always liked the little guy, you don't even notice it on your belt but it can come in handy!

I recently (about 3 weeks ago) came across a stash of LM Minis at a Sportsman's Warehouse in the north Denver metro... For $29.99, I bought a bunch to keep, trade, and give as gifts!

My usual EDC multi is a new Wave or Swisstool X, but the Mini is nice to have along when I'm dress more formally and don't want to lug a heavy tool.

The can opener on the Mini can be improved by sharpening the cutting edge a bit. It's a great little tool, I use one as my "dress-up" multi-tool.

 If you carry other multi tools, why do you need the pliers?

I usually only carry one set of tools with pliers, but sometimes you do need a couple of pliers to tackle the job.
Today I had to loosen the screws on my PST II to put a clip on it, and I needed two needle nose pliers to do the job....Actually the swiss tec mini pliers worked better than the juice and my blackie collins paradox pliers did the job great.

Also when I refer to multi tools, I also mean SAK's and The paradox which has pliers/knife/bit holder.....that's multi function, isn't it?

After reading this thread a week ago, I decided I should get one of these - found one NIB and very cheap. It arrived today - great pair of pliers, very compact. Since that's overwhelmingly what I use on the Leathermen I've got, this is a great find. Thanks! :D

Mine lives in my little toolbag under my bike seat, though I rarely use it to work on the bike, but rather on other things when my bike bag is the only toolkit I have with me. I used to carry it backpacking, in the old pre-ultralight days, along with my Leatherman Supertool and 2-3 other knives. Sometimes it's very handy to have two pairs of pliers with you.

I've probably used the pliers/wirecutters dozens of times and the screwdriver a few times. I've used the knife a couple of times in a pinch. Everything else I've only used once or twice to test it but that's it.
