Just curious about what you guys think about the Leatherman OHT or any of there other models...or about quality of Leatherman all together in comparison with other companies...thanks in advance :)

I love Leatherman Multi-tools very much. although I have no experience with the Leatherman OHT

The rev and wave are really awesome tools I've used both. Never used a leatherman oht but Gerber ones similar are good

I would say that as a combo of warranty, value, toughness, and utility, leatherman are hard to beat. Gerber has some winners, but also some real lemons in the line-up. Victorinox has some amazing tools, brilliant fit and finish, but that comes at a cost. SOG is a bit all over the place. Great designs, and the ability to customize the tools is good, but that comes at the cost of being fiddley and not as elegant. They have also gone through a few manufacturing changes, so that makes it harder to be definitive.

The multi that gets the most carry for me right now is a skeletool CX (the skeletool of many adventures) but I have a Rebar that gets use time as well around the house. Before those I carried a LM Pulse (discontinued) for pretty well ten years. I've also carried a SOG powerlock (set up for my work as a stage tech) and a SwissTool. The only Gerber I've owned was a suspension, wouldn't recommend that one, its probably living in a friend's glovebox somewhere.

The OHT does it for me. The only thing missing that I want is scissors.

The one handed operation and spring loaded plier - bad ass. Totally sensible and totally usable. Love it.

I am a lifelong Leatherman Fan. I have a PST, Fuse and Wave. My wife carries a Leatherman Freestyle, and I just gifted my dad a Skeletal for Christmas.

The Vic tools may be nice, but I have always owned Leatherman plier based tools. I love the Vic knife based tools though.

In my opinion the Wave the most versatile models, and would be a great starting place to try out a Leatherman Tool.

I have a Surge, Wave, ST300, TTI, AL, ALX and a Wingman for Leatherman tools. I also have a Swisstool X, and a Spirit. The Leathermans appear to be well built, and have nice tool sets. The quality seems good. However, I have broken the plier jaws of my Surge once. Leatherman took care of it rather quickly, and I had my repaired Surge back in 12 days total turn around. The one I use the most right now is my Swisstool X. It is just amazing quality, fit and finish. The Spirit is tool. They out shine the Leathermans by far in fit and finish. They also have a life time warranty. Whereas, Leatherman has a 25yr warranty. Which is still substantial. I like them all and use them all. If I had to get one do it all, no matter what, get'r'done Multi, it would be the Surge. When weight is no object, the Surge shines with the the extender and bit kits. When you want to go light, minimalist, but have everything anyway, I really like my Vics. They perform extremely well.

I have my OHT every day without question. I beat the ever loving crap out of it and I love it. Time to send it in for warranty to replace the two blades I broke, beating it to death.

I don´t no why, but I think my OHT feels like it´s more heavy duty than my Charge tti or Supertool 300. It´s a real badass!

I LOVE my OHT, it's honestly my favorite full sized multitool. The only thing I would like is a bit holder, but someday sooner or later I'll mod one into the place where the seat belt cutter is, I never use that thing anyways

So here's where I'm at:
Got an original wave, love it, retired to the car.
Got the Leatherman Sidekick - Love it, lightweight, as nice tools, AND spring action pliers.
Got the OHT - use it the most. Great tool, has stuff I need - Saw, blades, basic drivers, spring pliers, decent wire cutters, and doesn't have stuff I don't immediately need, like eyeglass driver (on the new wave, etc).
Got the Rev - budget deal, got it for like $20 at Home Depot. It's pretty nice, lightweight, and compact, but handles are asymmetrical, a little more so than the Sidekick.

Honestly, the REV pliers seem better that that of the OHT, in shape. I have photos (recent) on my Instagram feed, but basically, the OHT pliers only touch at the very tip, and are slightly off center. The REV pliers close up perfectly, and seem a bit thicker. However, I've used the OHT wire cutters to do harder work, the REV would just get jammed up, and then you'd need another tool to work it loose (with the OHT, you can just pull the handle apart, although it takes a lot to jam the OHT).
Also, the OHT is truly one-handed, and really quick to use and put away.
If you notice, the handles basically tell you what tool is there. It's a sweet design, and I've gotta say, it's probably my favorite.
It might be a little on the heavy side, but it's well worth it.

Word of wisdom, the sheath that comes with it isn't good for long term or belt use. Get yourself something nicer. I run mine in a Snake Eater Tactical pistol Burro.

I've tried hard to find a cheap or second hand tool, but I could never get my hands on a OHT. They're just too expensive here in Europe.

However, I can say the MP600 series from Gerber open fast and easy enough with the same sliding design, and I've seen them used and abused like many others but never break. They are just ugly, functional bricks. Industrial tools. Same design, equal toughness (supposedly) and much cheaper.

I agree that other Gerbers (Diesel, Octane, Reactor, Flik...) are utter crap, maybe with the exception of the MP1 and the MP800Legend.
I'm glad the OP liked the OHT. Another reason and opinion to keep hunting...:)

Here is my OHT....

This happened trying to open up a small 's' hook. Leatherman sent me a replacement but on the new one the cutters bound up on each other and one of the handle scales was bent in bad enough that the can opener wouldn't close without forcing it. I just sent this second OHT back this week. Hoping for a better example the third time around.

Now that that's out of the way, let me say that I am a big Leatherman fan. I currently own and use 7 different models. I bought the OHT as a sub for my ST300 which I sent in for repair (just worn out from very hard daily use over the course of about 5 years, LM sent me a brand new one ). The OHT lasted 2-3 weeks as my work edc before this happened. I think it's a great tool and the spring loaded pliers and one hand access are great but I would not classify it as heavy duty. The ST300 and Surge would be more suitable with their more robust plier heads. I own several other tools from Vic, SOG and Gerber and they all have certain attributes that I like. But Leatherman makes a great tool. They put a lemon out here and there but that's just going to happen sometimes. Fortunately they have a fantastic warranty staff to take care them.

My ST300.....
