I just got a Leatherman new wave ( with the hard wire cutters). Will the pocket clip Leatherman sells work on it? If so, how does it attach?

yes it will take a pocket clip but Im not sure how to attach it. There will be instructions with the clip though, so order it. :) I wish the swisstools had a clip, that would be perfect. :jerkit:

I have the clip for my Wave, and in the instructions that come with the clip, it shows how to do it. Kinda hard to explain, but at one of the tool pivot points, there is a small slot that is not occupied. You depress the unlock tab, and slide the flanged end of the clip into that slot. remove pressure from the unlock tab, and it should stay in there nice and tight. That probably wasn't the best explanation in the world, but once you look at the clip and where it goes, it should be more clear how it works.

The design is pretty slick. Here's a photo. Just press the lock release (on the side with the file) and slide the clip in place.

Will the clip come off if the lock is pushed in your pocket? Dosen't look very secure too me from the pics.

I suppose it could happen but I've never had the clip come off in my pocket and I doubt it'll be a problem. The lock would need to be fully depressed to remove the clip.

I can fully depress the lock and give it a good shake without the clip falling off. But if you push the clip while the lock is fully depressed then it will come off so you could accidentally remove the clip when unlocking the tools on that side of the handle. If it's any consolation, I've used the Charge XTi quite a bit and I've been really happy with the clip.

In the second photo, the clip was only partially installed. Here's a photo with the clip fully installed.

the clip really does work pretty well, ive got it on my charge TI, never had any problems with it.

yeah, that clip isn't going anywhere by accident......mine has never come out/undone....during some rather stupid....incidents

Been EDCing one for years now with the clip on, never even had it come loose. Should come standard with the thing like with the Charge models, can't imagine using it without the thing.

I use a pocket clip on an LM-Surge and considering the weight and bulk of the MT, the clip stays on even with rough handling.

Not to be completely out of topic, but maybe you can do this:

@3wolves

You can have your swisstool modified to add a pocket clip, take a look at these pics:

btw, this mod was done by forum member JOOLIESEWS, and i hope he doesn't mind me sharing the info and these amazing pix.

I've been meaning to do something like this for my RS, no time and no practice, i'm afraid.

Sorry it too me so long to get back here. I did buy a pocket clip at SMKW that day. The Wave has slowly replaced all my pocket knives now. At least at work. I've worked it's butt off since I got it and have been very impressed with it. Now with a pocket clip I dont need anything else. Thanks guys!
