Leatherman rebar black coating rubbing off ?

I just recently purchased a leathermen rebar and upon opening it and using the tool I noticed that some of black coating rubbed off onto my fingers. is there any way to prevent this from happening any further ?

You can clean it with a cloth, it won't come off more after that.

Get yourself some mineral oil and gun cleaning cloths at the local Walmart. Soak one path with mineral oil and giver the entire tool a wipe down, inside the handles, the tools, the plier, everything. Then just take another patch and wipe it down to remove the excess mineral oil. All of my black oxide tools get this treatment and it eliminates the extra black oxide from rubbing on on your hands - plus it penetrates the finish for extra protection.

Gun oil would work too, but mineral oil is food safe and doesn't smell like chemicals.

Just rub the whole thing real good with a paper towel, and the problem goes away.
