Long time crawler but first time posting. I wanted to get this information out there so if someone else like me was curious if a sawblade can replace a blade on a multitool, they have some images as a template for how to do it. I know many people that EDC blades have a mentality that you should carry more than one blade on you, but for EDC environments I HATE REDUNDANCY. All it means is less space for something else that may give additional functionality to my kit. As part of this mentality, I am not a big fan of the knife blade on multi-tools because I always have a primary blade on me that is far more useful than anything a multi-tool offers. I love my skeletool for being narrow, lightweight, and needing everything I need without useless tools however, as you may predict, I don't like that it has a blade on it, and I also don't like that it doesn't have a saw. I find a small saw very useful day to day when poking around in the backyard but have not found a tool that has good pliers, a good saw, and is minimalist.

Long story short I wanted to replace the knife blade with a saw blade. I went to the hardware store and picked up a carbide tipped sawzall blade (smallest size) and checked it against the blade of the skeletool. The dimensions of the front of the sawzall blade seemed to match up well with it so I took it home and did a number to it with the dremel tool. I was careful to shape the back of the blade so that it would still lockup with the linerlock of the skeletool. I also added two small washers that had to take some minor dremeling to make up for the thinner sawblade relative to the knife blade. All in all I am VERY happy with the results. It locks up tight, fits snuggly in the knife blade slot, doesn't impede usage of any other tool, and cuts wood really well!

Sorry, I don't know how to imbed the pictures.

Pretty cool mod. wouldn't take much to pretty it up some, and even try different blades, now that you have a template. I'm trying to think of where you could find a blade with a true tooth offset and bi-directional teeth, like a small key hole saw, I'm sure there is something out there, although might be a bit specialized to hack into. are you going to add a thumb-hole cutout?

Honestly the cutting ability of the one way saw is pretty impressive. Anything that I can cut with this small of a saw can be cut down in under 30 seconds, and honestly it is used more for notching than anything else. In wise of prettying it up, I think I'm going to leave the red coating on it now as I assume its a carbon steel, but if it wears, I might clean it up and polish it to a mirror! There is no need for a thumb stud as the tip of the blade has a nice notch that can be grabbed with the finger and lifted out. I am not dying for one handed opening so that is acceptable. Thanks for the comment!
