"Leg strap" for kydex sheath

So I will be heading out into the bush with my SOD. I have a kydex sheath with tek-lok but I am looking for something to attatch it to my leg. I'll be wearing winter clothes which makes it difficult to get to on the waistband. It would be in and out of the sheath constantly so I don't want to have to fumble around with my jacket. I'm looking for something to put around my leg that I can attatch the tel-lok to, and have I below my jacket. Thanks

WhooWeee! Your a long way from here so I'm not sure how your winter wear works..(say that 3 times fast!) but I made a SAS type extender out of scrap nylon web and para-cord. Puts the knife lower on the leg and just some elastic cord to keep the bottom edge from flopping. You might also consider a baldric set up that puts the knife angled across the chest for ease of use with gloves or mittens on. Best regards anrkst

How about an upside-down attachment attachment to your jacket? Either to an epaulette or you can rig a paracord or bungie-cord carry system.

I have also attached knives to my pack rather than belt.

Float around this forum for a year or two and you think you hear everything, then someone speaks more greek to you. ;) I have no idea what you guys mean.

Good man...thats why we're here right? Simply put a SAS extender is an extension of the belt attachment, making it longer and lowering the blade down onto your leg. you will see them used by SWAT teams and soliders to put their handgun below their body armor. ( Voodoo Tactical, Blackhawk Industries, Eagle Unlimited all have versions that you can look at), A "baldric" is a strap that goes across the body like the strap of a shoulder bag. You can use a nail heated red hot to burn holes in the nylon to attach your knife anyway you want it to ride. Mine is on an extender but the baldric might work better if you wear heavy clothing. It will also put the knife up on the body making it easier to get to without removing gloves or mittens.

Ah ok, I see what you mean now, thank you. The Drop leg is what I'm looking for, but I'm looking for something to attatch an already made sheath to, instead of buying a whole new one. I like my Rainwalker too much ;) After countless google searches I found this:

Think that would work?

Sure, looks like it is without holes, you would just have to drill it with holes to match your current kydex sheath, and you should be set....

Just to be certain, do you have an image of your kydex sheath?

I think it would work best if your sheath has holes or hollow rivets on the spine and the edge, that way you could really lock the sheath down to that system.

Also, if your knife is fairly long, you may want to consider attaching the knife somewhere near the throat to the strap, and then again down at the plate.

Hope that helps,
Marion

Yeah I've got a picture:

It is a large knife (7.5 inch blade). If I attached the tek-lok to the webbing that runs in front of the plate, then drilled holes in the plate itself and attatched there, it should keep it stable.

somewhere I saw a drop leg extender which was basically a short length of belt with a belt loop at either end. you just clipped/threaded the sheath onto the belt length, then attached the drop loop to your belt.
if you needed a leg strap a length of paracord would work (it's just to move the knife with your leg, and stop it swinging)

Sounds like you have it figured out. Well done.
