Figured there’s enough of them out there now to start it’s own stand-alone thread. I started to EDC my Roosevelt this week and I can’t wait to see it patina and test out the MagnaCut steel. I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of them at Blade Show as well!

If you got one post it up!

#670 checking in!

Sorry but… magnacuts not gonna patina unless you force it with strong acid, way too stainless. Nice Roosevelt though
Yeah, I’m talking about the titanium handles with snail trails, the steel is too corrosion resistant for that 😄
That knife was $700??
Correct. Imho a bit overpriced at retail at $700 but it is an incredible knife. I would never pay the secondary rates for one. But for my PJ version $700 is a bit pricey. I’d be more comfortable around the $500ish range for this entry Roosevelt.

Yeah I could see it around $450-500, same price range as the Sebenza. Over that it better wow me.

To be very honest, it will wow you. There are many things about this knife that give you that wow factor and make it what it is. The fact that everything is made here in the USA in his Indiana shop is another huge bonus. He was outsourcing the blade grinding but he’s doing it in-house now. The only things outsourced at the moment are probably the hardware which I believe he’s working on doing himself as well if he’s not already. This is an extremely lengthy video but it really breaks down what makes this knife so special, if you find the time check it out. He recently made the switch from $500 to $700 for his entry Roosevelts and I’m still trying to grasp what the $200 price difference is. But check out this video:

It's the same idea when I paid well over list for my new RAV-4 hybrid.
I believed they called it "Extended Dealer Profit." Nothing hard to grasp there... If you want it, you pay it.

Eh, I'm not sure any of that stuff in the video I really care about. The detent ball thing seems like a solution looking for a problem. So to me, not worth the money. My Umnumzaan works great and opens well and I honestly dont notice anything weird about opening any of the rest of my knives. But if you like it, that's all that really matters!

You’re right, and pay it I did sir haha 👍

I like it, it’s a great knife. The detent ball thing is cool but what I like most about the Rosie is how well and thin he grinds the blade. It starts tapering thin right after the pivot line which I find cool. You got some great knives sir. I love my Umnumzaan as well

They called it "market adjustment" here in Chicago. One dealer wanted $10k over msrp for my Tucson Hybrid. Went to Michigan paid $1700 over.

I agree about $700 better wow me. Not a big fan of all Ti framelocks. If they made a blade with less belly and micarta I'd be interested, I love thumbhole openers. I have a big enough belly, my knife doesn't need a bigger one.

I immediately google searched after you first posted yours Hyesouljah Hyesouljah

But was turned off at $700. Nice knife, but that is pushing a grand CAN after conversion/duties/taxes and shipping.

$500 and I woulda been all over it. It looks like my kinda knife. :)

I hope he can make that happen one day! It’d be great to see this knife a little more affordable and in more peoples hands

What's different about the detent ball if you dont mind? I tried watching the video but it's as long as most movies 😮 haha.

I respect the fella for trying to do everything in-house, including the hardware. I also like the idea of trying to bring more manufacturing back to the States, even though it may take a while. Somebody has to take those first steps, and I hope he succeeds.

Yeah the plunge line basically matching up to the handle scales is great, although in the video they mentioned that is not the case now that the blade grinding is back in house, which seems like a shame.

I know this started as a photo thread, but I just lube and reassembled my oz and I have a question about bearings: I notice that the balls sit a bit more proud on one side of the cages. I am wondering if it matters which side you put in first. I put it back so the prouder side is against the blade instead of the scales. These are the black and ceramic bearings like this video:

Edit: I got the new cookies and cream in house bearings and I am pretty sure they are symmetrical so it doesn't matter. I think the older ceramic ones I had before probably are too.

While I am asking about this, I might as well also ask if anyone knows the factory edge angle for my knife, #924.
