Hey all, Ive seen threads like this on other forums and thought they was really cool. I love music. Ive always been envious of people with musical talent. I tried my hand at playing guitar when I was younger but God just didnt bless me with that skill, and to say I cant carry a tune in a bucket is a understatement.

I listen to all sorts of music in the shop while I am making my knives. its as much a part and a nessessity as my tools. A lot of times as strange as its seems the music I listen to depends on what Im doing or even my mood. For example, When Im grinding I like to listen to hard rock or heavy metal, bands like Prong, Gwar, Limp bizkit, Megadeth to name a few. When Im in general fabicration mode. Social Distortion, Janes addiction, Dropkick Murphys, and Clutch are common. When its time to relax at the end of the day or just enjoy a good beer with my wife or Murph. its Johnny Cash, Charlie Robinson, and John Prine.

When im surfing the internet, I always find myself exploring new music. What are some of the bands and songs you all like. Would love to see it.Heres one of my favorites. Social Distortion live. Seen them 3 times. Whata show!

Damn Todd, quite a list. I can't say I disagree with any of the picks! I've been a hard rock & heavy metal listener, but I also love Southern Rock.

I've been listening to these guys for a few years now -

Definately a song that will withstand the test of time.

Ive heard of them but not very familiar. I also have a weakness for 90's hair metal. I think the best of that was the start of whats now called southern rock

I am a huge fan of all kinds of music.....except rap---although I will listen to real hip hop from time to time (not the kind you see on mtv--stuff like the Roots or Jurassic 5)--my favorite band is the Allman Brothers Band. I love how they have evolved. I think Duane Allman is one of the greatest guitar players but I think I like the newer stuff better because it mixes my two favorite genres: Southern Rock and Jam Bands---here is a perfect example:

Another one of my favorite videos is this: I like Bluegrass music alot, but the reason I like this video is the talent and all the familiar faces

And lastly, I like local music. My brother plays guitar and mandolin and plays with some incredible musicians--Here is a video of them a few years ago. They were in Amsterdam at a bar called the Last Watering Hole. They got to talking to the band and the band asked if the three of them wanted to take over for a bit, so they did---this is cover they did of the Stones---not the greatest quality video but hey......my brother is the one on the right playing a mandolin

So, my music tastes are all over the place. It depends a lot on my mood. Lately I've been stuck in a classic rock kick. More classic than just rock though: ELO, Styx, Sammy Hagar, John Mellencamp, Van Halen, AC/DC, Motley Crue...

Next weekend I'm going to see Skillet, Shinedown, and Papa Roach in concert.

Switching it up a little bit.
Black Water Rising, "Brother Go on"

Well, now. Try some Corb Lund;

And Aaron Tippin covered Hank. It may be sacrilege to say this, but this version is way better, in my humble opinion;

And Todd, I'll give you 24 hours to tell the good folks in here which of my cd's you wore out in your shop for 3 months before I got 'em back, or I'll tell 'em.

Good Lord, where to start?! The Dropkick Murphys, The Pogues, The Tossers, The Real McKenzies, The Blaggards, Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Jamey Johnson, Todd Snider, James McMurtry, Elizabeth Cook, Hank III, Hayes Carrl....
