lets see some modified old hickory or other kitchen knives

I was contemplating that just today. I'm not totally satisfied with the edge retention on this knife so I was thinking about re-heat treating it. In the process, I would of course remove the handle. It may happen but I don't know as of yet

okay i was wondering because most people change the handle because of sturdiness and did u lose the temper cutting it

No, it's just not as hard as I would like. I think the newer model old hickories are running a little softer than the older ones. It sharpens up very easy but looses it's edge fairly quickly. I have some other 1095 steel knives that are tempered a little harder so I know it has potential.

I know this thread is old and dead... but maybe folks have modded some OH knives in the last couple years. Well I'll throw a spark down with my modded Old Hickory butcher knife. It's a 7" blade with a half tang(?), I found it under the floor of an old house I was nosing around.
