Let's see the 403s

Mike, like you I am also a fan of the Big Sky and always wondered why it had such a short life. I thought the sheath was a plus for the knife. I'll counter your standard knife with a fancy one. This knife is called the 403 Eagle. It is based on the Big Sky model. It appears in the 2003 catalog. The description is "American walnut with inlaid synthetic ivory eagle feather......serialized up to #2003" This one came to me naked without box or sheath and is not serialized. It shows a little shelf wear but the price was right.

since we have the thread started......when did these first pop up and what blade steels did they come in for the entire run.......and when did they disappear?

These were new in the 1999 catalog and ran thru 2002. In 2003 only the Eagle was offered as a limited edition. One of Gedlick's customs is dated 2002 and the other has the same handle as the 2003 Eagle. Don't recall having seen them before. Do not know if there were any premium steels.

Wow, while I was typing this jb pops in with a few more. Can't quite make out the date code on the stag... '95 or '99. Note that his stag also has the model number in the middle line.

That was a Buck catalog LE offered in 2002, the wood is Elderwood Burl, Rosewood, & Charcoal dymondwood. The Stag could be Elk, looks more like Sambar stag in hand, it's etched "NKCA Show 2000" I got off one of Larry Oden's knife sale list years ago.

Man, I saw the first picture and thought, ‘that’s a new knife I could get into’ only to keep reading and find out it came and went 20 years ago. Very attractive knives gents. OH
