Lets see your CPK in Leather!

All these DEK1 sheaths making me regret not ordering one from Mr. Long.

Paul also sent me a pic of my DEK1 sheath completed.

How'd it turn out if you don't mind me asking? I've seen a few out there, but mostly in neck knives.

They came out nice, their out there in use. With the right magnet you could could have solid retention. So it allowed for an easy fit sheath without the knife moving around. But after awhile you can use your knife to pick up nails lol. There was some discussion awhile back in threads on this.

I agree on the magnets. They have their use but they will definitely magnetize the blade. If not properly placed they also have a tendency to grab other stuff, as magnets are prone to do.

I have used them on either creative applications or for added retention on knives that for whatever reason need it.

Sorry for the non-CPK content, have not used any magnets on them..

This Krein was so small I added magnets so it could still be drawn without a lanyard and not require a keeper strap.

This example has a magnetic closure on the belt loop so it can be worn with or without a belt, or attached to something with a fixed strap.

This was the Operation Dark Heart knife and just wouldn't have looked right with a keeper strap.

cpirtle,,

Your so correct on magnet placement. When using a stronger magnet you have to think ahead. Cause they will want to attach to metal. I placed most of mine toward the tip. Most were placed between layers of 10-12oz leather bonded in between.
Awesome work !!!!! Thanks for sharing the pics and info. :)

Thanks guys!

duramax, the magnets I buy are very thin, that way I can stack them until I get the retention I'm looking for. I just have to be careful they don't shatter from clanking together, that sucks! I also try to plan for them during the build and make the sheath in a way that allows me to fit them as late in the build as possible.
