Lets talk GEC!

I feel like I have achieved an impossible task! I just got an order confirmation for one of the #15 boys knives 😁
Honestly, I had resigned to myself that I would probably never get one because they sell out so fast and I didn't want to pay secondary market prices for one.

Now we wait, and dream of starting that patina!!
Nice snag. Micarta or bocote?

Ah, the calf ropers will have soft pulls and everyone will complain. Funny thing though, you rarely see them on the secondary market. They are very useful however, this one has broken in nicely.
The porch is generous and I was lucky to score one lightly used at a decent secondary market price. I've since put it to use. They are very useful indeed! I wouldn't mind another!! 😆

I could use one of those in my life  Red Micarta, very effective! The Wood ones are superb but Wood tends to darken quickly and you lose grain, Bone offering looks very fine too, but Micarta is more 'drop proof'

waynorth waynorth Many thanks Master :) It turned out satisfyingly, pile & mark are very different and this I chose. Never really understood the mania for matching sides. Perhaps in Smooth Bone but... Provided they are about the same thickness, properly haft and both are attractive/interesting that's fine for me.

The 15 shows off a single blade very well (why no Wharncliffe or Drop-Point yet?) I like all the ones made but Spear is my particular favourite for Barehead. These are smaller, compact knives but defo not too small, multi suitable :)

Someone else guessed at a Eureka Jack. Probably correct. Wouldn't a Calf Roper be a 3 blade? I heard recently that 3 blades were going to be on the back burner for some time. Then again, I feel alot of times when a "rumor" starts, it's actually a hint of what's to come. Lol. Who knows. Just keep working to try to pay for what's coming. Then play search and beg game. Haha.

I thought it was a 3 blade also, but if that symbol isnt a calf being roped then ill post a pic of me in a dunce hat haha

I'm thinking Eureka jack as well since the pattern is expected and going to be the AAPK group knife this year. Though for a second, I thought maybe GEC was going to put the Krack-A-Jack shield on a stockman.... How cool would that have been!

hopefully some make it over to eu dealers!

I’m liking this #35 Churchill Moose. Good fit and finish, solid 6+ pull and nice action (unfortunately not a given anymore from GEC). Shown here with the #68 White Owl, also in Cowhide jigged bone.

It is a bit on the hefty side as far as #35s go. The thickness is pretty much the same as the Beer & Sausage, Johnny on the Spot and Cattle Knife. Surprisingly the two-blade Moose is heavier than all the three-blade #35s I have at 101 grams. (The jigged bone Cattle Knife and jigged bone Beer & Sausage are each 96 grams, while the black delrin Johnny on the Spot weighs 91 grams.)

Ya I was surprised about the felt weight of the 35 moose but that's what I like about, same as the 86hj they just feel like heavy duty knives.

I personally like the softer pulls on stockman type knives especially the smaller frames like the 66,they are not designed for heavy duty as much as for utility being 31/2", i was hoping that a 15 clip would follow the spear because it's been a few years since a clip was done but I'm equally interested in another 66 calf roper.i was going to say that a 66 calf roper would be easier to aquire then a 15 clip and then started laughing, apparently the 15 badge sold out before they were even announced lol.
