Lightweight flipper recommendation?

I really appreciate the feedback I've gotten on this forum. Last year I bought a Skaha II on here, and while I really liked the knife, I didn't love it as an EDC because it was a little bulkier than I wanted...Maybe it's a matter of preference and having worked in construction where I usually had a small razor-style knife.

I like the blade length, but just wanting something lighter and thinner. If I need a more serious knife, I have a Mora-style blade I just stick in my belt. I saw the CRKT CEO Flipper and that seemed a bit like what I want, but the experts reside here. I'm sure Grimsmo and other make super lightweight blade, but those are probably pricier than I'm looking. Thanks!

If you could find an Asher Spiro flipper I think you might dig it - they're discontinued but I still see them pop up. It's a bit thinner and lighter, but still has that thin blade-stock, super slicey Skaha II kind of cutting performance and a really good action (not quite as good as the Skaha, but I mean...that knife is flawless).

If you're wanting to stay US-made and flipper - the ProTech Malibu is another lighter, thinner option. It doesn't quite have the cutting performance of the Skaha or Spiro, though, but it's a gem.

My brother likes a knife that dissappears in the pocket. I wanted to get him off the bugouts, lol. After a bunch of research, I got him a Tactile Rockwall. It's a thumb stud with bearings, no tab, but phenomenal action. Gorgeous design and machine work.

What's your budget? ZT makes some very lightweight flippers. the 0545, 0450, and 0460 are all very lightweight and slim.

On the other hand, the Shiro NeOn can be seen here on the forums at a decent discount...

Thanks for all the replies! It's possible that I also just didn't like the thickness of the Skaha, and it was less about the weight. My previous knife was a basic Spyderco and that was thin...

I really like the Shiro Neon knives, that kind of design (like a cheaper Grimsmo). Maybe I'll have to keep my eyes open for one.

For budget, I'd be happy with a cheap reliable flipper or spending $2-300 for something I'm going to really like and have it as a user...I sold my Skaha and it was a user.

IMO people generally want something that feels substantial if they spend a lot of money on a knife, so there are more of the thinnest and lightest knives at the budget end of the spectrum.

I've heard people say the Civivi Bo is especially thin and light, and the blade is supposed to be slicier than most. It just got discontinued, so a lot of retailers are clearing them out at really low prices.

Well , I looked at the Bo and was instantly like "YES" :) Just grabbed a cheap one for $34. That'll do for now as I find something else down the line. Got the natural greenish handle. Thanks! Appreciate the help here, yall

I like knives that can not only be flicked but also slow rolled open so I ended up getting rid of all my flippers. Recently felt I would like to have at least one in the rotation and really wanted a Shiro Neon but don't want to spend $500+ for one, so I ended up buying a Sharp By Design Mini Evo Micarta Drop Point has a 3.375" blade, AOL is 7.5" and weighs 2.75oz. I didn't buy one from Knife Center but they have CF and Micarta Drop Points on sale for $325, saw one last week on the exchange for $300 asking price.

Spyderco has a few models to consider. Mantra 3 is a very lightweight flipper with several deployment options. Won't break the bank, good EDC size. I found the blade shape a bit odd personally, but it's worth considering. If you can make it to a higher price point then the Koenig mini Arius is about the best small flipper I own, Grimsmo Rask is also fantastic, a bit larger but still very slim. You mention the Shiro Neon above, you can find them for under $500 from time to time. Beware, they still have a free spinning pivot and mine was always loosening up on its own, wasn't my favorite knife.

Ferrum Forge Stinger and Archbishop are fantastic budget options, I really liked my Stinger a lot. Slim, light, incredible flipping action, Nitro-V steel, several configurations well under $100.

Another vote for Pro-Tech Malibu or Zero Tolerance 0450. Both carry great and have very useful blade shapes.

Malibu is awesome for sure, I guess I was thinking OP wanted multiple deployment options but seems I mixed up posts!

Take a peek at the Gerber Fastball. Decent S30V steel, a little smaller than the Skaha II (3” blade vs 3.25”), and really nice flipper action. I know Gerber doesn’t have the best rep in recent years, but the Fastball has gotten very positive reviews, and I’m completely happy with mine.

Edit: I do also have a Malibu, but the Fastball is a good bit cheaper, and to be honest, I like them both about the same.

Let us know how you like it when you get it! I'm considering picking one up, too.

SOG twitch II.

Lots of votes for the Malibu. I do love that knife...Is it lightweight, though, and thin? Seems pretty comparable to the Skaha II, if I'm not mistaken. I see many online, but would love to grab one here. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Thanks for all the feedback!

I have a Malibu and a Mordax, they are both excellent flippers, they feel lightweight to me, but then again my usual carry is a fullsize SHF
