After years of requests we are pleased to announce the return of Tigerhide micarta. Tigerhide micarta will only be available on Satin finished "Limited Edition" blades.

The first Limited Edition out of the gate will be the RadioActive Duty. This easy to carry slicer design has been a fan favorite for years. The Limited Edition will feature our Tigerhide micarta, a hand applied satin finish from the Busse Custom Shop, a hand ground swedge and polished tube fasteners, the Busse Custom Shop logo, and each blade will have an individual serial number.

Serial numbers will be assigned according to when your order is received. First order in gets #1, second order gets #2, etc.

You may request a specific serial number only if your order is received before that number has been assigned. For example, lets say your favorite number is 52. You would have to get your order in before the fifty-second order is received and before anyone else requests #52. So if you have a specific number that you want, your best chance of getting it is to get your order in early and hope no one else wanted that number ahead of you. You can request a specific number in the comment section of your order. If your requested number is not available you will be assigned the lowest available number at the time of your order.

Good Luck HOGs!!!

Let's Drink,

Jerry

Satin, Tigerhide, and I can request my usual Number....Oink!!

Wow !!!! Classy looking knife !!!!

Dorky question: What is the number limit/print run?
If the number of knives to be issued isn’t stated, and if the past is any indication, then the number is only limited by how many they can sell. 🙃
ETA: Low numbers have sometimes enjoyed a modest bump in resale value/popularity in the past, so if you decide to buy it can pay dividends to get your order in early. Also, ordering specific numbers has become a thing for some, who collect multiple styles with the same number to make a personalized set. (As in Jaxx’s 27) Some numbers can also have intrinsic appeal to certain buyers, like cartridge calibers (357, 44, 45, 444) or even for some perceived notoriety of the number itself (1, 7, 13, 666, etc). In the past, Busse has also been open to leaving the number off altogether, for those who prefer it that way.

That tigerhide micarta looks a good bit different from the tigerhide on my other Busse LE knives (three GWs, two ADs, a SAR 3, a SAR 4, and SAR 8, and FBM), seems a lot more reddish, with not nearly as many layers. Is it my recent cataract surgery or does it strike you that way too?

But I still really, really, REALLY want one!

Perhaps the new one has been oiled. I always thought tigerhide was made of multiple layers of a light tannish-orange micarta and a darker blue/greenish-black micarta (linen or canvas) that look orange and black when wet.

Any old hogs out there that can shed a little more light on the subject of tigerhide?

I thought this myself. Maybe what I have is tigerhide linen micarta on some of mine, but it definitely looks more layered to my eye.

Nice little blade with the swedge.
