Looking for recommendations from those who know more about knives than I do (which is probably 90% of the users here), to help me choose between a Linder Kentucky Bowie (7.8" 440C blade, stag handle inserts) and a used but near-mint Greco Sheffield Bowie (7.4" 8670 blade, stag coffin handle). Both come in at just under $200. I like the aesthetics of both, but can only afford one. Question is which knife is the better value for the price?

Thanks in advance,
Tim

John Greco makes all of his knives. While I am not 100% certain, but I believe that those Linder Bowies are assembled in China. Whatever the case, Linders are factory produced knives while Greco knives are all Custom or semi-Custom.

Yes, I prefer John Greco.

The Linders are nice, but I'd personally go for the Greco....

Another way - the Linders will always pretty much be available, the Greco doesn't come along at that price often. Get the Greco now, save up for a Linder later.... :D

I had a look at his website - those things are damn fine looking blades, especially the scagel-type knives.
