I am trying to decide between the two and can't choose. I have read a lot on 3v and niolox steels and I think maybe the 3v would win by a small margin but blade geometry plays a big roll in that as well.

This is a general use knife for anytime I am out fishing backwoods ponds or in the woods; country periond.
There is a REALLY big price difference between the two, one is 170 Plus a custom yellow Hawk Kydex sheath which would probably run another 120-140, so $330 or so and the Bark River I'm looking at is 330 as well but then add another custom Kydex sheath at the same price and you're at almost 500.00
Just not sure which route to go

Add the falkniven A1 or S1 pro into that mix as well

I was ready to pick up a M7 (LionSTEEL) and looking at the specs I thought to myself... I'll never carry this in the woods like my BK-7 or some of the pry bars I own. Then I saw that the T5 was coming out and I think "this is the one!" Price alone would push me toward it relative to just about any Bark River unless you want a pretty handle.

Oh wow....I just saw YHC delta whiskey back country knife...seems all you would ever need....price is pretty steep, but it is a big slab of 3v
That is really what I was looking for, something that can do it all in one package, what yall think?

I think there are lots of options that will or should satisfy your needs. Do what makes you happy. For many of us here, it's a knife of the year or knife of the month kind of thing and we never stop looking at something new.

I feel sure that the Delta Whisky would work.

You can find a kydex sheath for the BRK for much cheaper than you expect. Another difference between the two knives is the grind. BRKs have full convex grinds which is arguably stronger for tasks like chopping and batoning while the Lionsteel appears to have a flat-grind with a secondary bevel which would make it better for slicing tasks. I could be wrong about the Lionsteel's grind but it appeared to be a flat-grind looking at the pictures on their site.

Yea, the t5 is a flat grind with secondary bevel.
I have a bk2 that I have convexed and added g10 scales and orange liners that I really like but the dang thang is just so heavy carrying in side draw in the middle of my back. I am wanting something that is about a 5" kinda do it all that chops and cuts well. The bk2 looses it's edge to fast for me. Maybe I just suck at convexing but it will pop hairs so idk.
If I did go a little bigger, like say with the Delta whiskey, I would probably have Doug make me some kind of sheath system with straps that would put it tight up against my side or something like that.

I also really need to have this knife sit pretty much out of the way because when I'm fishing I have to have nothing on my sides where my arms sit for casting and working the bait
If the bk2 was 3v that would probably be perfect. I could just deal with the weight

I always have a contego on me at all times for finer work so maybe a little bigger style Chopper with a yellow Hawk sheath with straps that would strap around my chest and back might be better
