Thanks. I really like the White River Ursus but the Lionsteel is $100 less and has a nice guard. My other thought was an ESEE 6. Just something to beat around while camping.I own it but haven’t done anything with it yet. I can say that it is an ergonomic masterpiece. That one piece micarta handle is superb. The blade itself is beautifully done. Good steel, perfect grinds, well balanced and it’s beautiful to look at as well. I have a few other Lionsteel fixed blades and they are all top notch. The one complaint you hear about Lionsteels in particular is that they are thick behind the edge. The ones I have used (M4, M2M, M1) have all been terrific slicers so take that for what’s it worth.
You might also look at the T6. I have it in 3v and that is one impressive chunk of a blade.
I also own the Esee 6. If you just want to beat on it while camping, that would be my choice. The Esee 6 is the benchmark camp knife. The Lionsteel is just too pretty to beat on although it can certainly take it.Thanks. I really like the White River Ursus but the Lionsteel is $100 less and has a nice guard. Nice to know. The 3 I’m looking at are the Lionsteel, ESEE 6 and White River UrsusI used my T5 on a few camping trips. ( Black G-10/stonewash blade) Performed very well doing anything I asked of it.
The sheath works well and of good quality , but would of preferred kydex for wet weather use.
The handle ergos on this knife are amazing (med-lrg hands)
No problems with the Niolox steel chipping or deforming .
Was trying to decide between T5 and M5 for a while , and the stainless Niolox and blade style won out.
If you are down to these three, go with the Lionsteel. I’m revising my previous recommendation for the Esee 6. The Lionsteel is just as capable but it’s just a cut above in aesthetics. It’s like a Glock (Esee) compared to a Sig P series pistol (Lionsteel)Nice to know. The 3 I’m looking at are the Lionsteel, ESEE 6 and White River Ursus
The Lionsteel is only $30 above the ESEE so maybe that’s the way to go. It’s a big thick for my usual taste but it would help with batoning. If you are down to these three, go with the Lionsteel.
