A couple of years ago the UK company that was making the official Lofty Wiseman tool ceased production, citing "anti knife" laws in the UK made business unsustainable.

Turns out it's coming back as MK II:

Made by these guys: (these guys also make the Jambiya being discussed in Prac tac)

The most obvious changes is that the previous version was 440A bead blast with a kraton-type handle - now steel is 1055 (vastly more appropriate for a chopper) and the handle appears to be well contoured beech.

And there's a mini version too with 8.5" blade instead of 11".

Either way, looks interesting (for those into big choppers) or merely for having something designed by the man himself. Price apparently includes shipping to anywhere in the world, so its still pricey, but not out of line say compared to a large tactical blade.

It says Scorpion Knives. This isn't the banned ex-member Red Scorpion (also a knife dealer) is it?

Doc

Scorpion Knives is the UK based "brand" of UK military knife maker Samuel Staniforth Limited in Sheffield, England. No relation to the "Red Scorpion" guy AFAIK.

Would like to test them both

Think they are over priced a bit though

I'd like to see you test one. I can't imagine it will be as good as the Siegle's you're used to though.

I would love to have one, but for that price, it should have a much nicer sheath. Overall, I think I will have one made, from someone here that we trust.

Ooph, don't know if I can get on board with that handle. Looks like it would really force your hand into a specific position. I'll take a khuk, for a blade that size/shape.

It's definitely a funky handle, the blade design is proven. I'm not sure why there is a large bolster and what it offers functionally.

If only the exchange rate was better...

Looks kinda off the wall to me but I'm sure it works good or it wouldnt be made.

Right ? :)

It's uh...well...hmm...different. Looks like a parang and the TBJ tracker snuck off and lived in sin!

I think I'll reserve judgement until I can see a review. But, my initial impressions -- taken from the photos, of course -- are...bewilderment. It seems an awfully busy design.

I can't see Wiseman putting his name on something that was rubbish - the overall design seems to have remained the same, just the change in materials (for the better.)

There are a couple of forum members with Mk1 of the tool from memory...

Personally I like the looks of the 8.5 incher at about 16oz.

Just like Bears semi-parang knife Gerber is coming out with: just buy a real parang and save yourself a ton of money.

The price is like Dave's Pathfinder knife, $100 tacked onto the cost just for the celeb factor when all their (Blind Horse Knives) are $100 below Dave's design.

TOPS is making one too, and it looks nice. I really like their handle versus the one pictured above.

Hey Joe, is this the version you're refering to? I snapped shot at Blade and it fits the parang/Wisman except for the handle...
