I'm looking for a really small EDC folder that has little presence in my pocket with sub 3' blade. What are your recommendations? Thank you in advance!

P.S. I mean a knife that I could use for letter opening, not an actual letter opener!

Pricewise, let's just stay within production knives. Other than that, I'm looking for a wide variety of stuff.

folder, single blades!

Ka-Bar dozier, thin, light and cool.

There are so many choices that it's difficult to recommend anything in particular. If your primary purpose is light use, like opening letters, there's really no knife that ~can't~ do that. :)

Budget limit? Natural handles vs. high-tech plastic? Multiple or single blades? Fixed blade vs. folder?

Swiss Army knives come to mind.

Spyderco Cricket!

That little sucker, has the perfect "letter opening tip"
+ with it's very thin layout (clip removed), and round design, you won't even feel it in your pocket.

i use my microtech makora fireant mostly for a letter opener, kinda pricey for a letter opener though lol.

Kkim, I think this Victorinox Silver Alox (aluminum handle) Bantam model from Smoky Mountain Knife Works might just be the ultimate ultra-thin and comfortable gentleman's pocketknife. It is something less than a quarter-inch in thickness and simply disappears in your pocket, yet it is an extremely useful and versatile minimalist design. SMKW (www.eknifeworks.com) has a large selection of Victorinox SAKs, better prices than I've found anywhere else, and they always treat me very well. Just ignore the junk knives that so many companies sell and concentrate on good quality name brands like this one.

My Koji Hara (handmade production) does a nice job on opening letters, and gets admiring looks as well. Only $850.

Now I'm pretty sure that is 5 times out my price range. But let's keep the suggestions coming! Thanks for everyone who have commented so far.

+1 for a Kershaw Leek, maybe even a Rainbow leek if you want it to be really cool looking:

Or a CRKT Ichi if you want something really small:

One of my favourites that is "cool" and the right size and blade for a letter opener is a gold/black CRKT Montana's Gentleman. Small with classsy lines that nobody will mistake for a Rambo knife!!! Be warned that the flare at the butt is not designed for hard work as it digs in but for light duty the very thin edge and sharp tip would be excellent. This is a knife I feel should get more credit in the "dress" category.

Go classic and get a Case in something like a Baby Butterbean--or go contemporary and get a Byrd (by Spyderco) Robin with stainless handles--won't scare the co-workers. Or a Victorinox Executive....

There are still some Spyderco ZDP-189 Calypso, Jr.s at some of the online stores. You can open LOTS AND LOTS of letters with the ZDP Calypso, Jr. before you'd need to resharpen it. I know from personal experience. ;) It's very thin, and the blade is < 3".

For about twice as much, there's a carbon fiber ZDP Calypso, if you'd want something that's nicer to look at.
