I am new to this forum but I am looking to get a new knife for edc. I was going to get the benchmade bugout but I saw many negative reviews about the quality. Should I stick with the bugout or not? If not, I would like to receive recommendations for alternatives at around the same price point ($150 ish). All help is appreciated

I recommend the Kizer Begleiter Mini (they also make a regular size). It is a liner lock with hollow ground (great slicer) M390 blade (a high end blade steel), full titanium scales in Frag pattern, AND a 3D milled titanium pocket clip. Oh, they are available on many knife stores online and I bought mine from Amazon for $139. It honestly feels like a $500 knife. Here is a photo; it is on the left, ignore the other stuff.

I really like the Para 3 lightweight, Demko AD20.5, and Houge deka and they are all kind of in the same price range as the bugout. I think the bugout is the best of these lightweight edc type knives though.

I like my Bugout. It is what I carry when I am wearing shorts. It is very light and does not bang my leg or other things as I walk by. When I am in jeans my BM Boost is in my pocket. No minis for me. I have no complaints about the Bugout for what it is.

If you like the Bugout size, profile and extemely light carrying weight, the only valid "negative" about it would be the stock grivory scales.
I have 3 bugouts, put micarta and g10 on two of them. And the third is the carbon fiber.
I have other knives of course but the bugout is an extremely easy to carry knife due to low weight and flat profile,

If you want a Bugout, go for it. It's a great knife. I have a 535, a 535-3, a 535-4, and a 533 mini Bugout. I'm happy with all four of them.

You can get a custom buck 722 spitfire. Less money. Higher grade steel. Less bulky. Cost less. Custom blade and scales. Benchmade is overpriced for what it is. Benchmade makes good knives... but I would buy something other than a bugout... it's like going to the BMW dealership and getting a 355i. Sure you're driving a beamer, but the kid passing you in his civic spent a lot less money.

Would there be another similar benchmade that would be better?

thanks so much for the help

Before you go...

I gave a second vote for a Buck because I'm a bit of a Buck fanboi. However, that being posted, the Bugout has a HUGE following for a reason. I have Buddies who've been using 'em for years and would rather buy another than ANYTHING else. (*and that's from a guy [me] who thinks that Benchies are WAYYY overpriced and overhyped)

As some have posted, if you want a Bugout, get it. I can pretty assuredly say that you won't be disappointed. Beyond that, I'm a person who believes that...rather ordering dinner or buying a truck...you should go with your first "gut" feeling. If you don't, you'll probably always be questioning your choice.

Happy hunting.

I really can't decide between the Begleiter or the bugout. I also saw that the Ursa Minor is on sale so any opinions are welcome.

The Deka doesn't really speak to me but any opinions on the Begleiter vs Bugout vs Ursa Minor would be appreciated
