So I'm looking for recommendations for a new edc. I've owned and carried folders of various sorts for years. Generally I tend to like a medium/large (ish) knife. I've had quite a few Kershaws. The Volt 2 was a bit small, but seemed to hit a sweet spot for my uses. Weak point for me was the clip. I since found Spyderco and really like the Tenacious. Ideally I'd like to buy an American made version of the Tenacious. I'm open to spend $200 ish. Really like the G-10 scales, and spoon clip. Briefly had a Manix 2 lightweight. It never really felt "right". Possibly would have been better in g-10. I usually tend to prefer combo blades but if going to higher end steel, a straight edge may be a better decision for sharpening. I've never tried to sharpen serrations on harder steel (I do keep my 8cr13mov serrations sharp with a round chainsaw file and a small triangular needle file on the smaller teeth. Any and all recommendations would be appreciated. I use my knife daily on fabric, webbing (like seatbelt webbing) rope, and rachet straps.

You might try the Manix 2XL, I have one and am pretty happy with it. The only down side in my opinion is the manix comes with a finger choil which I personally didn't find useful. It comes in G10 handles, and I really like the ball bearing lock.

Some of the Spyderco Military models are similar. The Native chief is a little over budget but probably similar to what you want as well. Good luck either way!

Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2.

Cold Steel Recon 1 (may need an aftermarket pocket clip). American Lawman, AK-47, Ultimate Hunter, or Bush Ranger could be subsituted.

Kershaw Link in CPM-20CV.

Benchmade Griptillian in CPM-20CV if you can find one.

Buck 110 Slim Pro.

Spyderco Resilience lightweight . 4.2 inches with S35VN blade steel. Nice blue handle also.
I plan on getting one as my primary EDC.

Well i was in your shoes not to long ago. The para 3 is nice but a bit smaller than the tenacious. The para 2 is bigger in hand but less cutting edge. The griptilian is a fantastic knife for lots of use but it is a girthy girl! The hogie deka has been really nice so far. It is thin and super light but not sure how it would be during a long use session as i don't use my knife that way. I tend to do lots of quick tasks so handle feel is irrelevant to me.

The axis style lock is by far my favorite but i do love the spydie hole which is why i like the griptilian with the sheepsfoot blade.

Honestly get something good that has a good steel and you will get used to it fairly quick. But be honest with yourself what your needs are and go from there. I’ve noticed that all the super steels are good, but all have their pros and cons.

Also i think there is a new tenacious with s35 steel now.

+1 for the GB2, Ritter RSK and the Native Chief which is $184 on dlttrading rn. I have and love all of them.

Do you have a lock style preference? If you like the leaf blade shape of the tenacious and want to stick with that the Spyderco lineup has several blades that are going to work for you. Manix 2 in G-10 is a no brainer and you sound like you already have experience with the ball bearing lock which I really wish they would feature elsewhere in their lineup. Such an underutilized lock.

On top of that you can look at the PM2 or the Shaman to get the Compression lock and similar cutting edges.

If you want to take a step down in size you have the Para 3, Sage 5, or the Natives.

Once you free yourself from the leaf blade shape as a requirement the world does open up quite a bit. As others have said the Ritter Hogue is fantastic for the money. You can get into some of the offerings from TRM at under 200 if you want a more premium liner lock feel OR you can take a look at many of benchmades larger folders including the griptillian, the Presidio 2, or the new Adamas. All great blades.

Wanted to thank everyone that posted here. I picked up a couple to see what works. One being a Kershaw Link with black wash blade with straight edge. I like the blade profile, even if I wish it had a combo serrated and straight edge for the webbing I often cut. Have to see how it holds am edge and works day to day. Also picked up a Spyderco Para 3 LW serrated since it was quite a bargain on E-pray. I've never carried a fully serrated blade so we'll see how I like it. I do carry a folding utility knife so I'm not really without.
