I am looking into a M390 blade by DDR/HTM(cant tell which is which im new to this)
I am looking into a gunhammer in M390 at knife center. Can it handle light prying? and how well can it hold up from hard use to simple everyday task?
New to the brand so can someone sell me on this knife? I am at the limit waiting for that extra push to push me into buying it when i get back to america in august

pics of user/in use gunhammers would be appreciated

also,
does it have any/much blade play (I am looking for a back up carry to umnumzaan and m390 PM2)
what are chances of it opening in my pocket?

I can't say anything about prying myself since I don't use any knives to pry with. That said, HTM and DDR knives are used by soldiers overseas if that says anything. The auto Gunhammers have an NSN number, though which armed units use them I can't say.

Regarding it opening in your pocket, the HTM Gunhammer is neither more prone to opening, nor less prone to opening in the pocket than any other quality flipper folder. The detents are pretty strong. If the flipper snags on a pocket seam, yea, it can open. But most flippers suffer this design. It's the reason I never carry a flipper with tip down.

Bladeplay is nonexistant once you adjust the pivot. I don't have calipers handy right now so I can't measure the thickness at the tip, but they are pretty stout at least in my opinion.

I don't have much to add that other people have not already mentioned in other threads here, but I will say that Darrel Ralph is an innovator. The Gunhammer design dates back several years ago when it wasn't even called Gunhammer yet. The design has evolved many times throughout the years. Most people will never notice the subtle changes that go into these evolutions like I do. I've handled almost every single generation - for lack of a better term - of the Gunhammer. The first one I got has been eclipsed by two newer generations since. The current generation is the most refined I've ever seen, which is not to say that any version was lacking. I did think the previous generation was hard to beat in terms of fit and finish. Then the current version came out and outdid even that.

Darrel likes to refine his knives. At the end of the day, it shows.

so m390 you approve of?

The custom DDR I commissioned over a year ago will be made out of m390 if that tells you anything.

I know the steel well, but is the gunhammer generation its released under the tops?
I pick up the blade in like august or september right now its between a spyderco techno and a M390 gunhammer. (odd pair)

Gotta say, the ergonomics and overall finish on the Gun Hammer are far better than on any production knife I've ever seen. It's the difference between semi-custom and production, really. The Gun Hammer is supremely comfortable in hand due to the carefully designed contours, but isn't blocky, and has great grip, because of the special texturing that's been machined into the grips. It has a very sturdy linerlock and blade. I probably wouldn't do much prying with it, but for any of the normal knife-related tasks, it's going to excel. I'm not sure what you mean by hard use though. Also, this thread needs pics!

If you're worried about tip strength, you might want to consider the radian recurve blade pattern:

It looks to have a bit more metal than the other versions.

ty but m390 only comes in bowie and i dont like recurve, especially to that measure. I dont pry usually i use a key or something to pry but i like to have that option just in case

Can you rephrase that question? I don't understand what you're asking.

for some reason leave it to beaver got into me "its the tops" i wasnt even born in that era........

its the generation that comes with the M390 one of the newer improved generations?

K i will look into it, On the line between techno and GunhammerM390. Ill give word if I join the family in a few months
