Literally, an hour ago, I lost it in the men's room at work.

I'm trying to look for it now.

Ouch....

Hope you find it! On the bright side, it'll probably stick out if some other guy at work decides to clip it onto his pocket...

Thanks ks.

I just posted signs in the men's room (that eliminates half of the office), plus it's a bit more discreet than a mass email.

I bought it from borinquen here on the forums. Brand new, just sweet, I can't believe it's missing.

Man, earrings go missing, and they get turned in. Cellphone goes missing, it gets turned in.

But a sebenza? Most of the world doesn't even know what it is! No word from teh taker, nothing.

Lousy.

That's gotta suck... How did you lose it ? did it have a pocket clip ? just sitting in your pocket and fell out while doing your duty ?

offer a reward, and soon.
something decent, but not too high or if the guy doesnt know what its worth he will soon be researching it.

id say post a note with a nice clear picture of the knife saying:
lost knife in the mens room, blah blah, has a highly sentimental value,
$50 reward.

so now this accomplishes two things:
#1. if a guy popped it in his pocket, its a $50 incentive to give it back, as well as an appeal to his considerate side because its of 'sentimental value'. it will also explain why you left the reward, so he wont go rushing to look up how much the knife is worth.

#2. it will get a picture up there to show exactly what knife you lost, so even if the guy who found it doesnt turn it in, every male in the office now knows what it looks like and will be keeping an eye out for it. if they see someone else with it they have a $50 incentive to report it to you.

the sooner you do this the better.

cheers,
-gabriel

My stomach just turned reading this. Sorry to hear about it and hopefully it gets turned in. :(

I was doing my duty in the men's room, but I'm in the habit of taking out the knife (folded, in the sheath), and putting it on the roll holder (on top of it) so that it DOESN'T slip out of my pants. I've been doing this for 2 years, no lost knife.

Yesterday it happened. Now I'm pretty depressed about it.

To top it off, I work in a financial institution in NYC, so if I post a picture of the "gents folder", I'll have corporate security on my back in no time. That's why it's tricky, because I'm searching for something that's SO important to me, but I have to be discreet and deliberately vague so that I don't rock the boat.

I'll try the reward idea, but I won't show the picture.

Every MINUTE that it doesn't turn up, I know I'm not going to get it back. I mean, it's SUCH A NICE FOLDER, even if you're not an aficionado, it's tempting to keep it because it's THAT NICE. That's what's killing me.

MY stomach is in knots just thinking about it.

I feel for you, and just made a mental note to myself. Posts like this remind me of why I hope I never buy a really expensive pocketknife...

Good luck!

What's the deductible on your homeowners insurance. It should pay for part of the loss.

you're the 2nd person to mention the janitor. I talked to them, and they seemed really honest w/ me, so I'm not sure how to proceed with that.

That just stinks!! I am so sorry that your lost your Sebbie! I was sooooooo hoping that you found it by now!!

What sucks is that I didn't think it would suck THIS BAD losing it. I'm still in shock really.

I put up the $50 reward sign: no luck.

I lost a cell phone last year the same way. It was turned in and I got it back. Hopefully, you will have similar luck. I'd much rather lose a cell phone than a Sebbie. Good luck. :)

Sorry, that's painful.
Just grasping at straws here but what kind of roll holder is it?
I did a similar thing with my cellphone a while back and it managed to actually fall into the roll dispenser.

Thanks guys for all the support.

I don't want to sound too dramatic, but it's in God's hands now. I pray that, if it's in the hands of a good man, he'll do the right thing and return it.

This is really too bad. Where I work things disappear all the time, especially tools. I am a supervisor but have my own set of tools just in case one of my machine operators call in sick. I used to leave my tool bag on one of the workstations on the production floor. Well my bag started to get lighter and lighter everyday so I started leaving my bag on my desk in the office instead.

I wrote my name on box cutters and wrenches just in case an honest person at work found them. The only thing it did was let the theif know who he was stealing from. My Swiss made chrome vanadium allen wrenches, gone! My $150 torque wrench, gone!

I had a set of keys with a Key-Bak retractable key chain. I left my keys on a forklift one day so I went to talk to the shipping guys if they found a set of keys. I got my keys back minus the Key-Bak. The thing costs $1.50 for christ's sake. I'll buy one for the theif if they need it so badly. It's not the buck fifty that bothers me, it is the fact that an employee would so readily jjack another employee.

What really upsets me is that I feel obligated to do the right thing and turn in found items and few other people feel the same way. I found a gold ring the other day and turned it in. I once found a hundred dollar bill on the floor and turned it in. Though I must admit my first thougt was a trip to the strip club for some lap dances but I did the right thing and turned it in. The owner was very appreciative. Speaking of lap dances, I once saw an off-duty dancer drop a fat roll of cash on the floor as she was headed for the door. I grabbed the money and ran after her. She was very surprised and thankful but I didn't get the "reward" I was hoping for. ;)

Even someone who knows nothing about knives can look at a Sebenza and realize that it is a very nice item that has a lot of personal value to somone. I am pretty confident that someone, a co-worker, walked off with your knife. You work with an @$$hole. I am sorry for your loss.
