Lubricant - Pam Cooking Spray?

I ran out of breakfree, and my old reliable 3 in 1 oil. So, I used Pam cooking spray to lubricate the piviot of my folder. Not sure if anyone else has tried this, but I thought it worked out amazing well. What's more, since I occasionally used this folder for cutting food, I thought is a double plus.

Anyone see any reasons why I shouldn't use Pam in lieu of regular oil? Pam's ingredients are Canola oil, grain alcohol from corn, lecithin from soybeans + propellant.

Also, my hardware store was out of Breakfree, so I bought this new stuff called "One Lube" (from the makers of slick50). Has any member tried this stuff before? Is it safe on teflon washers?

Thanks,

Stop by the BladeForums.com store and get you some Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide. Its the best[IMHO],....and you'll be help keep BF's alive. Take care.....

Bob,

I might have to try it. I never thought about
mixing pivot lube and whatever food I might be cutting. Sure sounds nasty.

The lube that I use on my folders is "SUPER LUBE" with TEFLON (the grease style). It may not work well around food but it really does make them slick. You can find it at most machine shop supply stores.

I have worked in a lot of kitchens and have, on occassion, used Pam to lubricate various kitchen machines in a pinch. I found that it gets gummy over time, in my experience. So I have avoided using it on my folding knives. Can't figure out why this happens, from the ingredients but better safe than sorry.

That is a new one. I will have to try it. Thanks for info
