the plasticy strap from my luminox 3051 is cracking and breaking on me. can i replace it? maybe a velcro strap...

You can use any strap you want on it. A quick google shows that the lug width is 23mm which is an unusual size....so you can either go up or down.

The Maratac watch bands are great, got mine from countycomm. I would go 22mm if your Luminox is 23mm but you didn't mention which model watch you have. They are not all the same size. I have two and they are very different.

i have the 3051

i like the maratac S-series by Zulu. since the luminox is 23mm, would the 22mm or 24mm be best?

I'd probably go with the 22 but that will mean a little bit of the spring bars will show. I'd think you could fit a 24 easily and if it does bunch up some a little heat applied to the strap where it goes through the lugs should shrink it enough.

I have the 3051 also. Lug width on the 3051 is 23mm,I got the 22mm band. It fits perfectly. Not the best pic but you get the idea.

I got a Maratech band at WestCoastTime. I am very happy with the Zulu bands.

I got tired of replacing the plastic bands every couple of months. I actually spent more on batteries and bands on a Casio watch that I had for about 20 years.

Get a ZULU.

I tore the rubber strap on one of my Luminoxes and replaced it with a Zulu strap also

I have the black and gray bond Zulu strap on a Titanium Bertucci field watch right now and it is an awesome strap I am wearing it right now.

Zulus look great on Luminox watches.

To soften up the strap, just throw it in the wash with some fabric softener.

I like the 4 ring Zulu straps. Although I no longer have my Luminox, I currently use a Zulu strap on my low budget Timex.

Another alternative is to make your own watchband with paracord. Plenty of different knot patterns to make those in. :)

I went down to the watch kiosk at the local mall, and got a replacement for the leather band off my Luminox Field Watch. I got a black "divers watch" silicone model. Very comfy and sturdy. I probably can't use it as a rappel harness, but it holds my watch just fine.
