So although i will admit that Cold Steel knives are a decent brand of affordable knife, I cant say that i like Mr. Lynn Thompson and what he stands for. If anyone is wondering what im talking about, go onto bladehq's website and in brands search Cold Steel and in the description of Cold Steel knifes and when they were made and by who theres a video in there of Lynn and i didnt realize until i saw this video of how much of a jack ass and smug, arrogant asshole he is. He makes stumbled movements while hunting animals that charge him or when a spear breaks that he throws and he calls them "martial art evade techniques." I mean, this guy must have youtubed some shit and said that he is a professional or something. Any opinions??

Here you are on the internet talking about Lynn Thompson.

I guarantee Lynn Thompson isn't on the internet talking about you. Or anywhere else for that matter. I doubt he gives you a moments consideration, or even knows you exist.

Millions of people around the world know who Lynn Thompson is, and value the contribution he has made to the knife community over several decades.

Does anyone know who you are? Does anyone even want to? Put me in the "NO" column.

This "guy" established Cold Steel Inc. 24 years before Youtube was created.
Cold Steel has been sold to GSM so whatever point you are making is not only rehashed old hat,
but history. My opinion is, with all due respect, that you have no idea what you are talking about.

All your points written above are valid except: ---there is freedom of expression.

Yep, Lynn in a track suit stabbing pigs with rock music blaring is pretty funny.

I don't care. They make a good knife for the $. My Ultimate Hunter and Recon 1 are two of my favorite knives.

love him or hate him, he brought a phenomenal range and diversity to the knives we love. from tacticool to excelent tools all shapes, sizes and budgets. his marketing was brilliant and controversial. any dicerning adult can see it for what it is. thankyou lynn thompson for many many years of great knives and jaw dropping entertainment(waiting for my "never unarmed" winged spear delivery this week" ooohhhh yeah

Welcome to Bladeforums. You got to give him credit, he built a lot with his career. Like others have stated, he has recently sold Cold Steel.

My advice would be to spend some time on the forums reading up before posting topics that can be interpreted as trolling.

I mean that sincerely. Enjoy your time here and the hobby. Just a warning though, it is quite addicting.

...Mr. Lynn Thompson ..... Any opinions??
he's a knife god to many
and equally despised by the competition
and those who dislike his brand of marketing.
he may have been the most
misunderstood knife personality
of the 1980's thru early 2000's.
to be fair, he did many things right
for the growth of his brand.
and iits popularity indirectly contributed
to the growth of knife enthuist
the world over.
sure, some may have disliked his
personality along the way, but
that judgment is reserved
for folks who know him on a personal level.
just as the true personality of an actor
can't be entirely judged by the film characters of movies.
the true character of a person is seldom
complete even if you've know the person
for years.
i believe events and life's experinces
will change a person's thoughts and
opinions through out their lifetime.
the effects of which may alter behaviour and actions of individuals thereof;
although some clearly recognisable old and familiar character traits may remain.
this is why there are prisons to allow reforms to take place.
people have the capacity to change.
all it takes is time and understanding.
it's unbecoming as human beings
to condemn a man to death
for actions that does not cause
the death of another.
instances of character assasinations
are mere propaganda that serves the
interest of foes.
refrain from judgment if one has nothing to gain from it personally, least we fall and allow ourselves to become tools of injustice.

I choose several but cheaper ones option , decades before :^)
(none chinese though then and now)

One and only forever is a perfect choice, if you know already which one :^D

This “joke” you are referring to built a successful company making some of the best value cutting tools on the market for decades. Now I’m sure he’s sitting on a fat retirement check sipping tequila sunrises on a beach somewhere, while you’re still having to grind out a living for the next however many years. I get your mad about it, but that’s really not his problem, nor is it any of ours. On to the next goofy post in this sub forum, please.

Just another example of “Buy the knife not the story”

To be fair most things from back then look pretty cheesy.
