Has anyone tried this, yet? It seems quite interesting, the only Emerson knife I have ever seriously considered buying, but I feel like, the positive angle does not go beyond my ringed Matriarch 2, so I don't know. It would be a good carry-always thing, or a beat-em-up for gardening.

I already have my sort-of SD set up, with waved/ringed Lil Matriarch, Matriarch 2, waved Yojumbo/Yojumbo 2, so unless I will be going out all day in a way that will soak my knife in sweat, this knife will be for utility. I have occasionally got little spots on my Matriarch 2 from hiking with it all day, it being up against my thigh. I want to know how Magnacut holds up in wet and dirty conditions. What do you guys think of this?

As a lover of karambits, I'm glad I got to see it on cameras, especially seeing DCA handle it. Because it convinced me to not get it lol.

Also, looks a little too smooth.

I am off to watch that video - I expected the folks who don't like karambits to dislike it, but you like them - may I ask what specifically turned you off about this one?

And, too smooth, like, it could guillotine your fingers?

I think the biggest turnoff for me was the smoothness (I don't like aluminum for knives that I actually use lol) and that it looks bad at stabbing :D I know they like crowning everything but in the case they should ease that off to provide better grip.

Also it looks flat and chunky, and not very attractive. I guess, I just see no reason to own it other than the novelty of: "Oooh! Magnacut emerson lionsteel karambit!" Edit: The "MELK"!!

These of course, are all pre-conceived and might not be true!

The fox blackbird is still my go to. I'll wait for the fancy elmax CF one coming out fx-591_ticbr.jpg

Did know that the Lionsteel L.E One was available for sale now.

I was interested in the design when I 1st heard of it just because I generally like things made by LionSteel but this one's a pass for me. Mainly because of the size (5.04" closed) & weight (4.73. oz) but also because it doesn't add anything to my collection of karambits which is not extensive but already includes:

1) Two (2) Bastinelli/Marcaida Pika,
2) Emerson Combat Karambit Flipper
3) Fox 479
4) Fox 599TICS

The Pikas and The Fox 599TICS are my favorites because they are small, light and effective.

I also just ordered a MT/Bastinelli Iconic Fixed Blade karambit mainly because I can't find an MT Iconic Auto to buy that I can afford anymore.

Waited too long. LOL! ;)

I don't know where DCA's flying off the shelf comment's coming from...

Also, most dealers are selling these about 20-30 below knifecenter's asking price, and still not selling out. Good concept, good price, but not my type of karambit.

I have honestly kind of ignored karambits for a couple of reasons - the first is, most normal fixed ones are too large to carry legally, and ever since I have started EDCing a waved/ringed Lil Matriarch/Ma2, I haven't seen the need for a dedicated karambit because those seem to fit the bill just fine. However, I was thinking of a karambit that has at least partially double-edged, do you know anything like this?

I have recently discovered (tell me if wrong, anyone!) that double-edged knives in and of themselves are not illegal to carry in LA. and I have been considering a sub-3 inch fixed blade karambit sort of in the "Pika" style, but with the edge extending towards maybe the first inch or two of the back of the knife, as was done in traditional karambits. The Pika does seem very effective especially considering its size.

I nearly bought one, but decided against it because of the deep-carry clip. Flipping the clip would put a lot of clip right up by the ring, and I worry it would feel weird or get in the way.

I'm going to wait for a few video reviews to pop up and see if anyone mentions the clip.

Don't know of any double edged karambits off-hand but not sure why you'd want/need one given how a karambit is "supposed" to be used, which is primarily in a slashing/slicing motion in the direction of the hook.

Most karambit blades are too short to be used in the reverse direction effectively because, even if the spine is sharpened, you'd only be using the apex of the spine to cut with and once you've made the primary cut why would you want to cut the same point of attack again in backhanded direction?

Better to choose an alternative strike point for the next motion than reverse direction on the same strike point. See the Janiach training video that I referenced for you in another thread which makes my point.
