Make a mustard plaster ?

Any of you medicos know the formula ? I have dry mustard & flour but do not know the mix ratio. Mucinex & Alka-seltzer broncial meds have only produced a small amount of sputum. It's there but needs a bit of old fashioned cure.

I feel that I'm probably too young to know, so what does a mustard plaster do? And how do you make one?

By the way, you have the same name as my Uncle :)
 
Mix 1/2 tsp of mustard seed [or powder ] with 1 tsp of flour. Mix, to a paste,moisten ,pour on a square of flannel about 10 x 10 & apply to your chest. It generates heat enough to open the bronical tubes & loosens pghlem so it can be coughed up.

Be sure to make a small test to make sure your skin is tough enough not to be burned . If so,add another bit of flour.

Very interesting. Do you have any eastern european ancestors? This treatment is applied a lot in russia. Got that "wrap" as a kid, guess what? That's the way they found out that i am allergic to mustard :eek:
 
Be careful with these because you can burn the hell out of yourself pretty easily.
