Hi,

I am trying to find a high end smith to do a custom folder for me. Would appreciate any suggestions on who to contact.

Would like style to be a short/squat folder like the Curtis Nano, JK Knives Shortcut, Al Mar SLB, etc but with a more refined finish/approach. No disrespect to these makers(I own 2 of the 3)... Just looking fr something different.

Thinking Ivory scales, bolsters, some scroll engraving (either English or Bank Note), pocket clip and spyderco style thumb hole. May do a 2 knife set with second knife being the same except using a dark figured wood and different engraving motif.

Not sure on steel yet but will be a high end Stainless. Open to any locking mech as long as it is reliable. Knife won't see "hard" use, just daily carry and light cutting tasks.

Some links to the overall shape I want but would like something less tactical(tried to post the pics directly but didn't show up).

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Call the budget $1500 per knife but flexible.

Thanks for the help

Josh

For a high-end maker, $1,500 is a start....for an experienced, desired maker, with engraving and your other requirements, you should probably plan on doubling that figure.

That said, there are any number of makers that might be able to accomodate you, just not "high-end" makers.

Meant to say not inclusive of engraving. I have engravers I like to work with who do firearms for me.

Budget is flexible. Not overly concerned about cost. Who would you suggest?

I used to own this one By Chuck Gedraitis. Seems kind of similar to what you have shown, except for the Spyderco hole.

Cant remember price but it was pretty reasonable. Probably 500-600 or so. No engraving or anything but useful.
