Making Finger Guard.

I am making a Bowie, my second attempt ever, I encountered a right mess then and the same now making the finger guard, getting the hole right which slides over the handle.

My eyesore is crap and I use a magnifying head piece chichis better.

I blued up and marked it out but, drilled 4 holes undersized yet managed to file it out far too big.

I feel a right twack.

I am out of brass for another hilt and it is not easy hear to get bits nowadays.

I did go to a scrap yard but it fell through cut I only wanted a bit.

Fed up but will try again.

I had someone cut some guards out for me on a mill that were oversize. If you use a hammer to peen the edges it will tighten the slot and you can hide the peening by applying a hammer beaten finish. I also took the extra step of dremeling out a shelf to lower the edges. It looks good, but it is a lot more work.
