Hey all!
I've recently been considering purchasing a Malanika. I've been eyeing the Puukko, and the Bushcrafter, both in CPM 4v. I'd love to purchase both, but my budget right now won't allow for that. I love the Puukko, but hate the $300 price tag and 1 year wait time. The bushcrafter seems nice as well, with a slightly lower price($250), and only 3 months wait. Which do you recommend? And if there are any similarly performing bushcraft knives out there for the same price or cheaper, feel free to recommend them.
Thanks!

I recently picked up a puukko from Jelio and I'm really happy with it. It was around a month wait and only a couple hundred bucks

Thanks Lorien! I found the thread of your specific one, it looks beautiful. How could I go about purchasing from him?

Here you have a review about a Malanika puukko. 4V has a long waiting list since he orders it from US and has to accord its schedule to that of another Croatian knifemaker that heat treats this steel for him.

There are plenty of option to pick or consider, among Finnish makers, before searching among slavik ones. Are you searching something in particular or just fancy a puukko?

I ordered a puukko from Malanika last year (?? - time is a blur, maybe it was early this year), and the wait time was only about a month. Perhaps, as was mentioned above, steel choice is a factor there. I wanted 80crv, and have been very happy with that choice.

I checked with Danijel, all puukkos are a 1 year wait.

And Frederick, I've had my mind set on Malanika, but I mainly just want a puukko.

Hey Mountainman23,
Have you found the Puukko you have been looking for yet? I just got my Martti Malinen (Finland) Birch Bark Puukko thanks to F Frederick89 posting his contact information. It is very very nice!! Hand made forged blade in Ovako 100Cr6 steel and an extremely comfortable handle. I have been collecting Puukko’s from Jelio (Bulgaria), Todor Hristov (Bulgaria), Zlknives (Croatia)and Malanika (Croatia).
Each one of these bladesmith’s can be found here on BladeForums and I think you would be very happy with either one of these awesome Puukko’s. Good luck with your search. Some amazing Bladesmiths to be found!!!
