Manix 2 Blade Swap?

I just purchased a Manix 2 with a Black hollow ground blade and I was wondering if it was possible to swap the blades in these easily (big fan of the full flat ground spydies). If this is possible, where could I get another blade without spending 60+ to buy a second knife. Thanks.

I am not the most knowledgable on this topic but I believe that you can only get a flat ground manix blade in the XL size, the LTWT version, or in a sprint run. That being said it would be extremely easy to swap the blade if you had one. Not too sure where you could find a standalone blade though!

I have a DLC manix with a FFG, they definately exist.

Honestly, you'd be hard pressed finding just a blade by itself unless someone, somehow has just a blade and was willing to sell it. Spyderco won't sell you a blade either, so you'd need to buy another manix.

I'd just buy another one if I were you since you won't be able to do anything with the hollow ground blade once you swap them. I'd rather have both, then use one as a beater. That what I do with mine.

Spyderco does not sell blades and, while a number of folks have successfully swapped blades between various versions of the Manix 2, a few have wound up damaging one or both knives. Easiest, and probably least expensive way to go would be to buy a FFG Manix 2, then sell the one you have.

I swapped a S90V manix 2 blade into a S30V handle I had that I had put custom thinner CF handle slabs on that I liked better than the spyderco S90V textured CF. I also thought the notches on the liners of the S30V version had a lot more "bite" than the more polished S90V liners.

It's not just the blade either, you really need the original pivot/washers/top bar that acts as a blade stop.

For example I tried just swapping the blade/pivot/washers the first time and there was vertical slop in the blade locked open. I had to swap the "top bar" that acts as a blade stop and once I did that the lockup on both was solid, same blade play/slop as they had before (none on the S90V and just a touch on the S30V).

I've heard of guys doing just a blade swap, and maybe on knives with a blade stop pin that might work, but at least on these two Manix 2's they needed more parts than just the blade.

I thought all the Manix 2 knives now have FFG...the one I recently bought does atleast. I think you are better off selling the one you just bought and getting the newer version if FFG is what you want...

I can't think of a reason to do a blade swap for the FFG, considering you can't buy a blade separately.

I prefer the FFG in the Manix2 so I just gave away my 154CM saber grind Manix2 to make room for all FFG current production and sprints I wanted.

Should work just fine if you can find a blade. I did a swap a while back with a s110v and a g10 s30 handle. And I broke the FRN handle on the s110v, but I almost had it out with out breaking it I just got impatient.
