Manix 2 vs manix 2 lightweight

Looking for a new spyderco and I've narrowed it to these 2. I currently EDC an endura 4 ffg but I want to just use it as a work blade and find a dedicated EDC. I've watched nutnfancy's reviews and I really value his opinion and I know he loves the lightweight. I also know that I like to have a solid knife in my hand and I worry that the lightweight won't give me that sturdy feeling. Just looking for real world opinions from people who have experience with both of these knives. Thanks in advance!

I recently got the Manix 2 LW in S110V and can't put it down. Very impressed.

Feels plenty sturdy. There are some other good YT vids on the Manix 2 LW, especially in S110V, that also found the LW more than up to the tasks of EDC.

I have both and like them. The standard Manix 2 is fairly heavy but this makes it feel very solid. Using the pocket clip I never notice the weight. I have the LW (S110V) version too and I find it very interesting, but to me it doesn't balance as well as the G10 version.

If you want a good lightweight knife I recommend the standard Para2.

If you are a roofer, or work in the logging industry, then go with the regular Manix 2. But for EDC, I much prefer the lightweight.

I had about 4 manix lightweight and trade them or sold them something about it I didn't like . The FRN for what ever reason felt cheap and not sturdy . To me there is no balance in the knife . The G10 is a heavy knife but it feels great in hand well handle to blade balance . If you don't mind the weight and how wide it is the G10 will be a great choice .

The pinned construction of the LW is a huge negative in my view and is not worth the cost and weight savings.

The lightweight manix in ctsbd1 steel is my edc. Easy to sharpen. Disappears in the pocket. Cuts great. Feels great. I've reached self actualization with this knife and would highly recommend it almost more highly than any other knife in its class.

Well, I should qualify this idea about feeling great... It feels like plastic but it feels like a very high quality good fit andfinish piece for what it is. The weight wins me over. G10 feels better but functionally I give a nod to the lightweight model.

My endura has the FRN handle and I dont think it feels cheap. I just have a feeling from looking at pictures that FRCP is brittle.

I have had a couple of cts bd1 lightweights and they felt 'cheap' to me. The lock was superior and the blade fantastic, but the handle was the downfall for me. I traded mine away as well.
I edc the Manix 2 XL and find that it disappears in my pocket for such a big knife. I think it carries better than my Military.

If you can swing it money wise, look for a Manix 2 Sprint. They have skeletonized liners and feel just about perfect weight wise.

Manix 2 Cruwear with skeletonized liners for sure! I have the lightweight CPM 110V as well both are good knives.

I prefer the G-10 manix. I have a sprint, foliage green with CTS-XHP.

I think people feel this way due to the FRCP's appearance. It's appearance reminds me of cheap, brittle plastic that I've seen used to make other products. That deterred me for awhile as well. However, I've found in use that the FRCP (and the FRN in the S110V version) are extremely strong and reliable. I've never had a problem with either one in any application and I've used both of them a ton.

I have both and like both very much. I will admit the LW version does have some flex in the handles, but for most EDC tasks that won't be an issue.

I have a sprint in CTS-BD30P. With skeletonized liners it's no heavyweight, but it's not exactly a lightweight either. I'll never part with this one, just too good a knife. I just ordered a LW for summer carry.
Let me say this before someone else does, get both:D

I think the LW model is a personal preference thing. It does look "cheaper" than the g10 model. And it does have some flex in the handle. But it's solid, and amazingly lightweight. I personally love it, especially when I'm wearing gym shorts or lightweight khaki shorts/pants. I think you should try it out.
