I just purchased one of the Maratac AAA LED lights from CountyComm.com.
CountyComm.com said:
  • Specifications: Length: 2.7” Diameter: .5”‚ Weight: 20 Grams.
  • LED Type: Cree 7090-XP-E Q5 with a life span up to 50,000 hours. The reflector is aluminum alloy. Flashlight body is made of aircraft grade aluminum covered with
  • Type III Military grade anodization.
  • The lens has been treated with a AR (Anti-Reflective) coating.
  • Its proprietary circuit design features reverse polarity protection and runs off of one AAA battery that provides 3 levels of brightness (Medium/Low/High).
Using A Single Duracell AAA battery we got the following results:

  • Medium Mode, 18lm Output for 4 Hours
  • Low Mode, 1.5lm Output for 50 Hours
  • High Mode, 62lm Output for 48 Minutes

I really like this light! It appears to be well constructed, small, and it is incredibly bright for its diminutive size. It is actually small enough to fit on my key ring. All in all for $21.75 I think this light is a very good value.

However, there are several things I don't like about it:

1) I don't like the 3 stage head twist for on/off. Twist on once: Medium brightness. Twist on/off and then on again: Low brightness. Twist on/off, then on/off the on a third time: High brightness. It seems to me that this leave too much chance that the light will be turned on by accident and the battery will become drained.

2) I also don't like the lanyard hole: it's a little too small IMO and it is not permanently affixed to the flashlight.

3) $8.00 shipping and handling seems a tad steep :thumbdn:

You can find another review here.

Does anyone else have any experience with this flashlight?

Mine starts in Medium, then goes to low then high.
I've never had a problem with twist switches turning on accidentally.
In fact in my experience it's clicky switches that get turned on in the pocket.

I agree about the lanyard attachment, I'm not a big fan of the clip either. Fortunately they are both removable.

I like mine a lot though. Low is nicely low for finding your way around at night, and high is really very impressively high for such a small light.

shucks.
wish i hadnt placed my order on monday.

i would have liked to add one of those to save the shipping

I really like these.
Accidentally ran one through the wash with no effect on it:thumbup:

Yeah, they are great little lights. The construction is flawless, the low is actually low (1.8 lumens), and the throw is impressive for such a tiny light.

iTP did a really good job with the EOS/Maratac, so I am excited to see what they come up with next. They have already announced an $80 700 lumen MC-E light, so I bet they have even more on the horizon.

I have been selling more of those little EOS lights than every other light combined, probably thanks to how dirt cheap they are. They have a new stainless steel version out as well that looks really slick.

Consider also the Fenix E01 AAA, at around $15, which provides 10 hours or so of non-diminishing light followed by another 12 or so of diminishing light. Its just 10 lumens, but in a dark environment that is more than plenty.

I like the little flashlights. Sometimes I wonder why people are using big spotlights in their house. (the one time I asked was all the regular flashlights that are below $50 are of cheap quality) Maybe these will be some of their Christmas presents from me. :)

What type of battery does this use? What is a slide switch? Thanks.

Jeff

6 x AA batteries. It is a side switch, not slide, so it is on the side of the light like a MagLite instead of the tail like pretty much every modern light.

huh.. those do look like cool lights... i especially like the fact that it uses AAA, instead of cr123....

I've been checking that out for a while, I just hate it that I live 5 minutes away and they won't accept on-site pick up. It takes more energy to ship it away from me, only to have it shipped back to my place...

those tiney EO1's from Fenix are kick arse flashlights for their size.

I like the little flashlights... <snipped>... Maybe these will be some of their Christmas presents from me. :)

The stainless version EOS comes in a nice metal tin, I plan on getting a couple for family gift giving.
Stay Safe,
Clyde

My ARC-C is brighter and smaller than my EO1. The turn- head switch is harder to turn also which I like better. It is less likely to turn on by accident.
