A fella told me he was moving and had some long guns to sell. "Whatchagot?" I asked...he rattled off a list of firearms and then said "Marlin Golden 39A". I think my heart stopped for a moment 'cause I've been looking for a 39A for a couple of years but I simply couldn't justify $500+ for a .22...no matter how much I wanted it. So I said "How much?" (expecting to be disappointed). $290.00 he said!...to which I replied "I'll take it!" and shook his hand. The rifle is in LIKE NEW condition. M.I.N.T.

The 39A represents the oldest and longest continuously produced rifle in the world. Starting production in 1891, this is the firearm Annie Oakley used when famed Sioux chief Sitting Bull named her "Watanic Cicilia" (Little Sureshot).

I ordered a Nikon Prostaff 4x32 Rimfire Classic Matte Riflescope Model 6305 for my baby and after it's installed I'll be in plinkin' heaven boys!

Wow! Now thats a great find...

But it's an investment honey! I swear!...we can sell it tomorrow for $450.00!

Ahhhh heck...screw that...I'll sneak it into the basement using the outside basement door! :o

Sweet!

Love the Marlin 39, my brother-in-law has the short 39 mountie version.
Awesome gun!
Needs to get me a .22, probably get a Henry levergun or pump, Marlins are too rich for my blood.

my dad has one just like it thats probably 50+ years old. they are a great shooting gun for sure.

My new 1897CB from five or so years back was a shocker. Beautiful octagon barrel - unreal furniture - horrid lever action! The only thing rougher was the trigger. The lever action drug on an unfinished/roughly milled cast frame's innards. That I cleaned up - but that trigger was left original - too much of a challenge for me. A friend brought his 1976 Bi-Centennial 39A to the range - same faults! Either was a bundle of bucks - too much for such a poor trigger and interior finish, especially with the Made-in-Brooklyn, NY (Like me!) Henry base model .22 levergun - what a smooth lever and trigger - costing a fraction as much! My 1897CB had a 'perfect' chamber & barrel - five Eley Match in a 1" circle at 50yd from a tied down stand. That trigger, however! I did put a Lyman peep sight on it - better than a scope.

My favorite .22 long gun is a CZ-452 .22LR Trainer or Custom - a target rifle. Best levergun? Henry!

Nice deal or should I say steal. :p :D

I love the older Marlin lever guns, smoother action. I think it was a great deal and still affordable to get a gun smith to work on the action if necessary . Good luck and happy shooting!

Nice rifle.

I am trying to work out a deal for one of these myself. It was made in 1957 and is in good shape. They are great little rifles, have fun with it.

Your going to love that rifle. I had a Marlin 39 TDS for years that was my favorite .22. They even chamber and fire cb caps reliably (the only sound with those is the hammer hitting the firing pin).

That's my grail gun. Congrats! I would definitely pick one up at that price! :D

Best gun I've ever owned. I have an older Mountie version. Breaks down into two pieces for easy packing. It's a joy to shoot.

You found a deal.

Great find, and a great price.

I have a Mountie with the straight stock. Traded a bud straight up for it. He got my Marlin 336 straight stock .35 Remington.
I mounted a Leupold Rimfire 2-7X scope, and it is on squirrel killing machine. :D
