Hey all. I have owned a Marto Explorer since my Navy days in the 80's. Won it or traded for it I think. I just recently dug it out and looked it up and realized it was rather rare and has an interesting history. My question is this.. There is absolutely no serial number on either the blade or the sheath, but I can tell by other posts and the stamps that it is a Marto. It's the 5 1/2 inch black bladed version. Anyone know why this would have no SN? It's not filed off, it's just never been stamped. Mike

Might it be a copy by any chsnce?
there was the Tramontina's Commander iii...
It had a mirror polished blade.

And for a while way back in the day
there was a brandless Taiwanese copy.

If you have the real thing,
there could have been a number of things
to explain the missing serial number.
(Believe it or not, every marto brewer knife even underwent a rockwell hardness and had tiny round "passed" stickers to show for it).
But i won"t speculate any further other than the possibility of it having slipped passed the factory inspectors ???!
