One of the things I ordered to build this kit with is a Maxpedition Janus extension pouch to put on the shoulder strap of the Sitka pack to give me an easily accessible forward compartment for storing things I may want to get to quickly. It is roughly 8 inches X 4 inches X 2.5 inches, and has pockets and retaining bands inside. It has molle bands on one side, and a shock cord retention system on the other. The pouch is reversible and adjustable for right or left hand carry by separating the velcro on the strap from the pouch and relocating it to where you want it.

It's like having a small version of the upper pouch on the pack itself in easy reach.

It's actually pretty roomy for it's size.Minus the light, keys, and SAK it will hold my Pelican 110 I use for my little camera.

I have a "tactical" flash light coming I will put in there also, and today I learned it could discretely hold another useful small tool.

I think it will work with several Maxpedition packs. I think I could also add it to the strap of a bottle carrier kit as well.

Once again I have to say that Two Wolves was a pleasure to do business with, thank you once again Lupa!

awesome. ty i have been in the market to grab one of these but just wasn't sure it was worth the 29-35 bucks. ty for the inside pics thats what i needed. i will be ordering mine tomorrow

Thanks, glad you liked it.

I definitely like what the Janus adds to the pack.

You are going to cost me money! One question on the Sitka, how tightly does it grip if you were to bike or move faster than a walking speed?

Yeah, well I cost me money too, just thought I'd share :)

You can actually cinch it up pretty tight. I think it would be fine on a bike.

Mistwalker as usuall you have a neat set up. Thanks for sharing the info on the janis pouch.
How much does you pack weigh total as you have it set up?

Bryan

I also have a Janus that has been my dedicated camera bag for about two years. I just sold my Jumbo that I had it attached to and put it on my new Falcon II. I attached it to the side with two Pals straps. The Janus is a great little bag and can be used for many different things. You can also just take off the belt and attach it to your pants belt like a small belly bag.

Thanks Bryan. I have no idea yet, but I'll get it weighed up as soon as I get closer to having it just the way I want it.

Yeah, I really like how versatile this little pouch is. I have even thought about adding a second one...just taking it of the extension strap and adding the pouch above the buckle on the shoulder strap of the Sitka.

Glad you enjoyed it J.W. , I think it would be a great addition to that kit of yours. In my opinion having the forward pocket completely changes the dynamic and adds a great dimension to the kits. It's really great having certain things in easy reach. I am still thinking about adding another one just for a camera, extra batteries, memory cards.. and a few small items.

I'm thinking about using mine for a FAK. Nice an handy in the front with the ability to take it off and have it with me if I want.

I asked Jake for advice. I guess I'll wait til he gets his so he knows the size, then I'll bug him about it. :)

It it easily holds a Pelican 110 with still room in the inside pockets for some thinner items. I think it would be a good pouch for an FAK.

Looks good. I like how Maxpedition has all the smaller packs that compliment their other bags. Get to the items you need without all the hassle of a large bag.

Here are some pics of what I did with my Janus and link to my review in G&G. It's a neat little pouch.

Great right up on it, sounds like you like it as much as I do, except I really liked it as soon as I saw it on the website. I'm already thinking about another one...maybe a couple more.
