I am getting this bag in about the next week. Who has one and what do you put in it, or any other Maxpedition bag.

I have one. I use it as my "take it with me" bag, so it has:

• Thin work gloves
• Hat, bandanna
• Screwdriver bits, Leatherman Charge TTi
• Guyot SS Nalgene and cup
• "Sniffle kit" — basic meds
• Dental kit
• Spare socks
• Gym entry card
• Exercise bands — basic resistance training anywhere!
• Camera
• Teabags and instant coffee
• Folding ti spork
• Spare light, batteries

and other assorted randomness.

I have some grips with the bag: it's too small to fit my daily loadout and extras, so if I want to carry a book, my iPad, some food, etc. then I need to carry a second bag. Conversely, it's also too heavy when fully loaded with water: it gets uncomfortable on even brief hikes.

It's got a waterproof drawstring collar inside the main compartment. I can either leave it up, and have to wrestle with it every time I want access to the bag, or I can fold it inside the main compartment… and lose access to all the interior flat pockets.

On the plus side, it's small enough to nest inside other bags, it's a non-threatening color (blue and grey), the back compartment is large enough for a holstered handgun (which I've used once, in a pinch), and it does a decent job of carrying everything I really need.

It's also completely bombproof. Can't fault the quality.

I'm considering switching to another Versipack, or maybe biting the bullet and going up to my Pygmy Falcon. OTOH, I rarely sling the thing, so perhaps a briefcase-style carry would do me just fine…

Ah, conundrums :)

Oh, I should note: I don't have the EDC version. The biggest difference is the carry handle; I fixed that on mine by adding a Tac-Tie on one of the webbing sections. Carries just fine with two or three fingers.

Yeah I am not specifically talking about the EDC version but all the many versions of the versipack.

i have the jumbo and take it on short hikes and always when i am hunting. i cram it full of stuff when i go hunting.. i like the bag however its not that comfy for harder hikes and such bc it doesnt stay seated on your shoulder.. it slides around and need ajdusting quite a bit if you are bending over, climbing, going up steep hils etc etc.. for those trips i just use a backpack. in hind sight i dont know if i would have bought the jumbo or any kind of sling bag.. it does get annoying at times. i may sell it. i dunno.

I've used mine as a camera bag on a couple of hikes for my dslr and it worked great. I actually bought it for a manlier version of a diaper bag for my upcoming kid.

I have to say that I like it for what it is. Will it carry big or heavy loads... no. It wasn't designed to. Does it keep small light loads that you might need while working on something, hiking or just as edc conveniently at reach... yes. For that job it excels.

HaHa, me too.
It's a great diaper bag, and for going to the playground. Fits the diaper and accessories, snacks, some toys and of course a bottle.
And all the moms at the park/playground will be mighty impressed with your 'handy little purse'. :)

Yeah I don't know about a diaper bag but I am planning on using it for an EDC bag for taking to work and maybe some hikes, but the areas around here are pretty easy for hiking I think.

its fine if you do not run or move around alot bc it does move on your shoulder and any increase in weight will make it worse.. personnaly i would opt for a small backpack. its out of your way and out of mind. i may sell you my jumbo :D..

I have a maxpedition Thermite versipack. When I go backpacking, I strap it to my leg and use it to keep my knife, FAK, maps, etc. In other words, it's my survival kit.

Depending on what you wanna carry consider the LEO also. I bought that instead of the EDC because the cargo pocket is larger on the LEO and instead of a water bottle pouch you get an M4 mag pouch (Which I use to carry my little case that has my ipod and portable hard drive in it). If you plan to carry a water bottle in it then the EDC or Regular Jumbo is the way to go. But for me I was glad I got the LEO. I carry a water bottle in a Maxpedition 12X5.

I carry in mine
Cell Phone
Wallet
Glock 36 plus two spare mags
two surefire 6P LEDs
ipod touch
WD 500GB hardrive
leatherman charge XTI
Benchmade Griptilian
belt holster for Glock 36 (when carrying on my person and not in the bag)
