I've had mine for awhile, but I don't think I'm using it efficiently. Is it used as a BOB? Or other? What's in yours? Etc. Pics if you can. Thanks.

I use mine when I don't want to carry a daypack. One example is when I'm grouse hunting in the deep woods. Daypack straps would get in the way of shouldering my shotgun. The Jumbo holds my water, GPS, map, camera, emergency gear, lunch and a .22 pistol in the concealed carry compartment.

The normal stuff always in it: Esbit stove, coffee, tea bags, 32oz. Nalgene and Oli cup, space blanket, spare contact lenses, wet wipes, SAK, pad/pencil, zip ties, mag block/ferro rod combo, tinder, pin-on compass, first aid stuff, dispoable butane lighter.

The Jumbo Versipack is a nice piece of gear, I think!

Stay sharp,

I use mine as a daypack. Great investment.

It holds:

Guyot and SS cup,

Poncho/tarp
100' paracord
MPI Space Blanket
Flashlight
pac towel
Vic Farmer
Multi tool
Bug juice
anti itch spray
water filter(straw)
purification tabs
ferro rod
mini bic
wet fire
flint & steel
char cloth
jute twine
light stick
orange survival bandana
Duct tape
whistle
wet naps
compass
coffee
fishing kit

I used to keep a spare fixed blade in the gun compartment, but as of late I put a folding saw in there. Kind of sticks out a lil though.

Nice answers, thanks a bunch. Tonym, would the contents you described be called a BOB?
Or is a BOB a much larger (72 hr.) bag?

My bob is much larger and also contains clothes and non perishable foods. I think my bob will get me and my family to safety and last at least 72 hours. That said, it is not really a bag, but one of those heavyduty plastic storage container that I can throw in the back of the jeep and get out of dodge with.

here is a video on char cloth thats pretty good

Jute twine, is a natural twine that when you feather it up makes superb tinder. I use it with the flint, steel and char cloth. Once the char cloth catches a spark, you take the ember and put it inside your fluffed up jute twine and blow into a flame.

It also takes a spark from a ferro rod with ease.

I use mine as my EDC bag, to get my first aid kit and some gear back and forth to work, I dont carry it everywhere I go but its always in the car, or at work. Its really handy mine carries a full back up to everything I carry on my person, plus a pretty comprehensive first aid kit and daily convenience items like: hand sanitizer, glucose tablets, knife sharpener, and fire starting kit. It is a very handy size and I really like mine.

I don't use the Jumbo because I don't like the fact that it really can only be carried on one side of your body.

I just got a Maxpedition Colossus and I'm busy equipping it as a road tripping bag for family vacations. I'll also use it forwandering around zoos, the easy portions of national parks, etc bag. I added a rollypolly on each end of the bag so that I can carry water and other misc junk as need be.

.

Allthough they sell a left and right side bag, I carry the bag that is designed to be carried on your right shoulder on my left. Simply because I want the water bottle facing forward. I also don't like anything covering my strong side.

So the theory that it can only be carried on 1 side is not true for all.

I have a cheap copy of the Fatboy Versipack (cheap, but very good quality) and I use it as a short hike bag or EDC bag.I need more space to have some spare clothes or something like that.So i carry a backpack more often :)

I use the S -model, and keep it on my left side. This is because I usually have my camera in the little side pouch, and I want that to be on my front side. I think it is a great EDC bag. A bit costly, sure, but Maxpedition quality is worth it! :) For urban EDC, it carries easily some snack, first aid stuff, maybe a book, wallet, water bottle, mp3 player, multitool, sunglasses, etc. I tried it as a day back too in the woods, but it was a bit too heavy for one sided carry for me. The belt loop helps, but that I cant use with a winter coat.
