I'm pretty sure a couple of you have this. I am tired of carrying around my backpack on short dayhikes and I feel this is big enough to carry the essentials, and I love the fact that it can fit a water bottle. So I just ordered it.

My question is should I have specified left side carry or rightside carry. The only thing I would probably need easiest access to is the water. I prefer to keep my FB on my right hip, so I want the bag to stay left. Will it matter on specifying that?

I don't carry a pistol on the trails (not that I don't think its a good idea, I just don't have a License:o.......yet;) so for now thats not an issue.

Thanks.

The left sided one is a mirror image of the right sided one. I had a righty and wore it on either side, but it was more comfortable on the right. Thats the main reason I sold it, cause I didnt like having my strong side covered up. That, and I had the fatboy, not the jumbo, so it made it awkward strapping the water to the pack via caribeaner.

Ok, I ordered the righty also as I like having the water bottle facing forward.
The lefty would put the bottle towards my back.

If its not comfortable I am sure they would let me exchange it.

I've got the model with the water bottle carrier. It goes everywhere with me during the day, and rides the car at all times. I actually prefer the Devil Dog in the woods though. The DD has two water bottle carriers and is comfortable with a big shoulder strap. The DD set-up works for me... I find the Jumbo rough on the shoulder after a while, and I don't care for hydration bladders so my Camelbak stays at home. Have you considered getting the new water bottle carrier that Joezilla reviewed?

Thanks for the info.

I did consider that one, I just wanted something that carried more gear, I guess I could of paired it with something, but I found this on sale and I said what the hell.

You will like it man. They are awesome, I just scored a pygmy falcon II off the exchange, I cant wait to get, It also holds a bottle on each side.

I am thinkin of doing a eagle or kifaru buttpack, and moddin it with a maxpidition bottle carrier, and a blackhawk med blowout pouch, and a shoulder strap. Im still looking for my perfect edc type shoulder bag, so I think I might just have to design my own:o

I also have a countycomm EOD bag, but there is no comfortable way to mount a bottle, so I it rides in the truck most of the time.

J is right, you will like this pack. If my house was burning and I could only grab one item, it would be my Jumbo. If I were gonna use my mine more for woods carry, as opposed to EDC, I would lighten it up a little though...

Thanks Fellas, I think I will like this pack also.

Thanks for the link, that will come in handy, as I get out with it and see what mods work for me.

It seams like quite the versatile pack.

That's pretty much an Indiana Jones type of bag. I think he actually carried a modified British gas mask bag but pretty much the same thing.

Sweet. Ill just have to don the bullwhip and go to the woods!!!!!:D

Seriously, I have been looking for a plain type of canvas bag for a while, and for 14.00 I cant pass it up. Even if Idont like it, I can find a use for it im sure.

I have one - I like it. It can hold a lot of gear, but is still pretty comfortable to carry. You can access your gear pretty easily, and it's very well made.

I enjoy mine, the only complaint that I have with mine, is that my usp 45 and 3 mags will not fit utilizing the aviailable holster. The weapon is orintated to weak side carry, due the amount of room provided on the opposite side. If I carry only one mag it works fine for strong side carry.

I took my Jumbo Fatboy for an 8 mile hike on Saturday with little distress. Had it loaded up pretty good with the Ruger SP101 and a full Nalgene water bottle as my two heavy items. Other stuff inside was a couple candy bars for my son and I at the turn around point, fire kit(firesteel,tinder,matches,Bic),50ft cord, Digi camera, Leatherman Ti Charge, Inova 24-7 light, 2 man size AMK Space Blanket, and a few other field items. I love how you can get to your gear real easy even on the move. I carry mine on my right side so I can get to the Ruger fast if needed. Another plus to the Fatboy is that it is simple to unzip the holster pocket and even keep the gun in hand and no one is the wiser :) I don't look for trouble but I have enjoyed this feature on one occassion where I happened upon a pretty rowdy group of drinkers at a campsite on the trail. They made a couple comments about my purse as I went by but they stayed a safe distance away to remain safe and sound :) Another cool feature of the Fatboy(or any bag style carry) is that your back is not covered during those hot hikes. Helps keep the sweat factor down.

I have one... I bought the S-version, since I'm used to keeping my shoulder bag on the left side. I also want the side pouch to be on the front side, since I have my digi camera in it. So, its easier to reach, and harder to steal (I EDC this bag in the city also).

I've also used my Jumbo as a day pack on short hikes, but when packed full, it gets a bit too heavy to be carried on one side alone. The belt loop helps a lot though.

Thanks everybody for all the great input! I knew I could get some feedback here, you guys are great!

I have the Left handed one, the bottle is in the rear putting the small pouch that I keep my camera in on the front which is really conveinient, I used this bag for EDC since I got it a month or so ago, it has also gone on a couple day hikes, and a week long trip to disney world, it is very conveinint and comfortable

At the begining of a hike the pack with my all my usual gear feels kind of heavy but you quickly become used to the weight, I like it especiallly on humid days because I dont sweat on my back as i do with every other pack i have.

Just to give you an Idea I carry a fairly large ist aid kit, Flashlight, Leatherman wave, Camera 8 spare AAs (camera, gps and light). Compass, Lunch, 1liter Nalgene, Swiss mil canteen with cup (about 3/4 liter) Small binoculars, Small PSK, Nylon Poncho and a gps.
