Anyone use them.
Like or dislike.
Pros or cons.
Personal thoughts such as (man purse).
Thanks.

I use a Maxpedition Fatboy and its pretty sweet IMO.

Great for quick trips in the woods and its my best bag for fishing the rivers.
Excellent construction, 1050-Denier is Tuff and O.D. Green is sweet....

I have the Jumbo EDC and I like it. Both my wife and my son call it my "murse" (man-purse...see what they did there?). Murse or not, it's a sweet bag. Got plenty of room for all kinds of goodies, not to mention the CCW pocket. To me, it rides more like a small messenger bag, and doesn't have the feel of a man purse. Then again, I couldn't give a rat's arse what anyone thinks about it anyway. I'm secure like that!! :D

I've had two, both were sold. Maxpedition makes quality stuff with great materials. I prefer a backpack or traditional messenger bag in the end though.

I also prefer a backpack, but when I want to go light it works perfect...

i first person that called mine a murse got clubbed with it ;) it's more or less maximally configured for urban bob'ing around town/etc, but has some "extras" to make it fun.

also have a lunada, but that's more of a glorified light book/gadget walking around bag. i don't want it weighing too much.

good products

A friend at work just got a Colossus today, and I must say, it is very good looking. I can see a ton of uses, but if I were to get one, I think the Thermite would be the one. I like the waistbelt and leg strap, I think it would make a great bushcraft kit.

Moose

I have the UTG knockoff of the Jumbo and it's pretty good sized for shorter/day hikes, but I wouldn't trust it as my sole gear holder on a longer hike or in remote areas.
OTOH, it's great as a day trip car bag.
holds water bottle, snacks, first aid, last aid, knife, deck of cards, psk, etc...

I'd really like to check out a mongo S-type -- sounds like a great replacement for my messenger bag.

Modern Possibles Bag sounds better than murse. A MPB, I've got a wax cloth provider. Maybe we should make one.

Been using the Jumbo S-type fatboy for 3 months now. I really do like it. gets heavy if I cram with too much gear though. I call it a satchel not a purse cause it's cool, hell indiana jones had one.

I used a FatBoy for about a year, still have it, but moved up to a Jumbo for the water bottle feature. Tho' I like the accessory pocket lay out better on the FatBoy. when I moved up to the Jumbo I got a Janus pocket, very handy add on pocket to fine tune the carry.

As to the 'Murse' comments. My friends have heard me say, "Remember what's in it!"

waxed cotton would be good - my old leather possibles bag was about 8x7x1/5.
Bumping that up to 9x12 or exen laptop sized would be about perfect.
I have leather - and a winter storm coming up...

Pro: Great bag, extremely well made, expensive.
Con: Encourages you to fill it with stuff you don't need

Probably the best choice if you don't like fanny packs and feel the need to carry a full fire kit and FAK with you to Target.

I keep my weapon on my person.

Pros: Well made, quality material.
Cons: Single shoulder bag and thus can get uncomfortable when fully loaded.

I will use it until I get a Kifar Koala. I tried using it carrying a 32 ounce water bottle, firearm, and other gear. It got uncomfortable really fast. Since that experience I have made adjustments to my gear list.

For a short walk in the woods it works fine (2-3hours). For long hikes I use a daypack.

It is a good bag. Just watch how much gear you put into it so it does not get too heavy.
